#3 of the mass produced local beers. Small bottle sells for just under $2 in the supermarket, which is slightly less than local Goldstar, Carlsberg, and Heineken. NOT a premium beer, just expensive like most things in Israel.

Color, nose, taste, and mouthfeel all say "Schlitz" when it hits your lips. Not a good beer. 2.25 is a bit generous for a score, but I didn't have the heart to go as low as 2.

If you are in Israel, try one, and then feel sad for the locals who don't have better options.

Presentation 500 ml green glass bottle with freshness date stamped below the neck.

A-light gold with a thin bubbly head which leaves a little lacing on the glass. Big bubbles cling to the side of the glass along side streams of little bubbles

S- Malty, Grainy, hint of sweetness, Bitter, grassy.

T - Crisp, grainy, malty with a hint of sweetness balanced by "hoppy" bitterness, a hint of smoke and a slightly metallic taste.

M- thin-medium body, low-medium carbonation

D- a decent beer which can be consumed easily in quantities.

Clear light yellow, foamy head which stays solid for quite a long time, very strong lacing.

Very strong hay aroma, also grains, some slight grassy hops. Taste is dissapointing - too light and sweet (even very slight bitterness would improve it greatly), flavour is very short. Mouthfeel somewhat too thin.

Typical large-scale mass production. At least it was comparably cheap.

A rather boring pilsener. It pours out clear yellow with no head. Smells of grains, hay, and slight hops. Taste is slightly metallic. Average mouthfeel, decent disability due to low ABV. Seek out better options if you're in Israel, there are a few decent brews from Canaan Brewery.

Beer bottle (33cl), tasted in 2001.
Apperarance : Clear light yellow color with white foam.
Smell : Aroma is moderate malty, sour malt.
Taste and mouthfeel : Flavor is light sweet with a short duration. Body is light, texture is watery
Drinkability : a very average beer in the Pilsener style

Appearance - Pours with little head and beer is a pale yellow color, appears very watery.

Smell - Slight skynky odor, some light malting perhaps.

Taste- Very weak macro-esque taste, watery flavor, some typoe of filler used, probably not rice, but something odd.

Mouthfeel- Weak on the plate, poor covering of taste buds.

Drinkability- An Israeli macro, nothing special here other than its connection to the holy land!

Had this on tap in Netanya... being a domestic brew this was much more inexpensive compared to the other styles being offered in the pub... For the price, wasn't too dissapointed... The taste was pretty decent... grainy and sweet with no bitter aftertones... Mouthfeel was a little below average, but the drinkability wasn't bad, as this brew went down easier than expected and did the job well... Haven't seen this beer outside of Europe... can't say I'm dissapointed about that, but it was worth a go...

A - Golden coloured beer poured with a couple of centimetres of white head into a pint glass. Head falls away to nothing very quickly.
S - A grainy aroma also with some grassy and cooked vegie aromas.
T - Along the same lines as the smell.
M - Light to medium bodied and fairly low carbonation for the style.
D - Not horrible but not something I'd recommend or buy again.

bouteille,

couleur jaune-paille, peu de mousse ou elle disparait rapidement, goût agréable de bière blonde commerciale, sans défaut apparent sauf son manque de caractère, sans grand intérêt, bière pour des chaudes journées au bord du lac tibériade.

Poured this green bottle into a goblet. Served well before "best by date". The white head settled to a ring quickly. The body was clear and golden.

Smell was grainy and sweet. The bottle states there is added sugar (?).

Taste was sweet and corn-like. There was some crisp bitterness. Fine to accompany the Israeli falafal I had with it in Paris.

Mouthfeel was smooth with ample carbonation.

The colour is pale yellow; the two finger head is white and firm. It even got a little crater. Some lacing.

The smell is quite mild. Some bitter notes and a crisp malty note.

The taste is rather anonymous: Some malt, a clean and medium strong bitterness. The body is low/medium. The aftertaste is also clean and crisp with a fine growing bitterness. Not as strong as the Czech brews (which this one seem to imitate), but in the same range. The aftertaste also got some malty notes.

Carbonation is good: Fresh, but not sharp. Small bubbles.

Very gulpable, this one. But at the same time, it is almost watery.

Still popular but gradually giving place to imported and conract-brewed lagers and specialties.

Handsome package with lots of brass on the '30s-styled label, not bad aroma and thinnish, uninspiring taste. Bitterness feels like something artificial, and metallic note is evident. Despite a fair amount of alcohol seems like a 'weak one'.

Draught version is even more bland.

The other Tempo product, Gold Star is far better.

Pours a pale golden color with a rocky head that leaves a thin lace. Fairly sparse in the nose with some light hops balanced by a mild graininess and a distinct honey aroma. The sweet, malty grain flavor is also nicely balanced by some subtle hop bitterness. A slightly watery mouthfeel with tangy carbonation.

A little thin, but nicely balanced and pleasantly drinkable. Recommended.

Pours a clear gold beer with a skimpy white head.

Smell is sweet and malty with a spicy hop scent. Odor of clean grain and a little bit of grass and faint floral aroma.

Taste is a little sweet and spicy at first. Tastes of clean malt and the spicy hops dominate. Nothing here but a nicely flavored Pilsener.

Mouthfeel is very good it gives the impression of a thicker beer than it is.

Very drinkable beer here. I really expected a sub par beer because I have heard about how lousy Israeli vodka is and the fact it came from a green bottle. I was pleasantly surprised by a completely acceptable Pilsner. I can recommend trying this ONLY if you know it has been properly stored. I will drink this again.

Very pale pilsner with a shortlasting head.
A mild sweet smell, but not too fresh.
Lots of soft carbonation, it feels round and smooth in the mouth.
It has some sweetish malt taste to it, that I actually do like. Nevertheless, it would have been nice with a little spicy hoppiness in the end. All in all a well-balanced but too light beer.
I would drink it again only if I got it offered for free on a nice summer´s day, with no other choice.

In my worldwide trip to through the art of beer (because physically couldn't go any further than greece) I come accross this conflictive region's lager and wonder whether so many years of war could've been avoided if quite simply this lager wouldve never been produced. Much as the rest of the worldwide crap macros, this representation of israel boasts international awards on its label as well. Apparently, then, crap=good or rather crap+marketing= international recognition. Well, they can all stick it, for that matter. It does not get my recognition for anything other than rubbish.

Light gold color, medium foamy white head. Aroma is grainy and slightly sweet. Light bodied lager. Mildly malty and hoppy. Crisp taste. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and slightly dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Fairly standard tasting lager. Drinkable, but nothing special.

"Premium" Beer? I don't know what style this beer represents. Pilsner? Don't think so. No Saaz hop flavor. The cloudy gold color and smooth malt body are pretty ordinary. A clove-like taste hides the hop bitterness. Perhaps that is the hop flavor. Not much aroma, but mildly pleasant. Ok white head. Reminiscent of a Stella Artois or Paulaner. Like a copy of a nice beer. Not bad!

Amazing! A beer from Israel, my first.
I was at a party tonight and a colleague that I work with turned up with this stuff – so I just had to try it.
Well it looks like a weak Wheat Beer when poured. Head retention was average and it maintained a ¼” white frothy head that evenly dispersed later on throughout.
A pale straw yellow color, with a hazy look that suggests that it is not filtered. Nose is of sweet malt. Initial tastes reminded me of honey beers that I had drunk from the UK, sweet but not sickly, and the taste supported this - reminiscent of honey flavoured sore throat capsules that had a hint of lemon in them. Weird. A Pilsner - surely not.
Honey sweetness dominates a rather easy drinking beer that has some mild bitterness in the finish that succumbs to a cloying honey finish.
For me this is a honey beer, more than a Pilsner – Am I wrong??
If it is a “Pilsner”, someone in Israel needs to get out more.

Ay, ay, ay, ay, diz iz not a Pilzner.....

Nice beer, mediocre, but not a Pilsner.
Whatever it is, it is a bit too sweet for my liking.
