From bottle no. 105 of 200. Sampled on March 8, 2014.

The pour is a deep, dark brown to just about black with a thin, fading dark brown head. Opaque. Leaves lacing.

The aroma is a menu of dark malts, chocolate, toasted biscuit, milk, syrup, and earthy hops. Maybe even a little smoke if you think about it.

The body is medium to full.

The taste also has a nice milky and chocolate character but not milk chocolate. I get burnt biscuits and a come from behind hop bite that lingers and ends on the dry side. There is also something in the taste that reminds me of a Mallo Bar. Get it while you can. Only available at the brewery.

Bottle from the brewery.
Pours a deep inky black color with a smallish creamy dark tan head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, and a hint of smoke. Earthy citrus provides a bit of balance but the acrid character of the dark malts takes center stage here. The flavor is creamy dark sugar up front that melds into a bit of molasses, and burnt caramel. Roasty and dark chocolate flavors mixed with a solid shot of earthy hops lingers long into the finish. Thick body with a light level of carbonation and a creamy syrupy mouthfeel. That is one thick beer for something at 5.4% abv. At times the roast is a bit acrid and harsh, but I enjoyed this beer quite a bit.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

A - Dark dark brown with a very thin brown head. Looks viscous.

S - Dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. The roasty quality of this beer is apparent immediately.

T - Taste is in line with the smell Espresso, coffee bean, and chocolate complimented with an abundance of sweetness.

M - This beer is thick and flat. Moutfeel reminds me of a higher alcohol stout. Solid mouthfeel but i'd like a little more carbonation.

O - I really enjoyed this beer, I love the roastyness and aroma. I sampled this at the tasting room and bought two bottles.
