Batch 1, Bottle 39 poured into my Delirium snifter

A: Pours a hazy golden color, almost lemon yellow, with a pure white two finger head after an aggressive pour that immediately disappears to leave a light ring of head around the glass and there is no lacing. Very active nucleation due to the etching in my glass.

S: Smells of green apples and lemon zest immediately, bready yeasts with lots of funk too. Cidery. Some horse blanket aroma along with vinegar, and oddly enough a slight salty aroma that reminds me of procsciutto.

T: Immediately pick up on the apple and grape like sour flavors coupled with a bitter/sour lemon zest flavor which gives to a sweet white cranberry juice like flavor. Very tart and puckering, but sweet at the same time. Lemonade and cider like in flavor for sure, but with more to it. Peppery and bready yeast flavors pull through with a nutty malt finish. Very clean taste that is crisp and clear that doesn't linger besides a tart/sour flavor on the tip of my tongue.

M: Very carbonated and a slightly thin body. Feels like a champagne when I drink it. Slick feel to this beer too.

D: Incredibly delicious beer with a great feel. Light, crisp, clean, and extremely refreshing, especially on a hot and humid day like today. Bought a bottle after tasting it tonight and talking with the brewer/owner, Bill. Great guy who really puts a great deal of effort and thought into his brewing, and it shows. I could drink this very regularly and be quite happy with keeping this on hand consistently. Great job guys!

Yellowish-beige in color; very cloudy - opaque. A small white head when poured that immediately disappears without a trace. While initially lots of small carbonation is apparently, it dies down quickly and then the beer seems quite flat. Overall not much in terms of appearance. Faint sour smell; not much aroma. Taste starts off very acidic and citrusy, progresses to a lemon-like sour taste, then progresses to a smooth wheat flavor and ends with a slightly sour and dry finish. I must admit it is very, very refreshing. It was nice on a warm summer evening. Light to medium in body, starts with a definite frizzy feeling in your mouth followed by a tart, dry finish. Overall a decent light sour, though nothing spectacular. I would drink again, especially on a warm summer day.

Poured from a 22oz bottle. The beer pours with no head whatsoever. The beer itself looks like a BMC lager, moderate to low carbonation, no head, and a medium clear copper color.

The smell is quite subtle, there are clear hints of malt, and just a hint of some acidic twang.

The taste is fairly clean upfront, a bit crisp, and then it fades immediately to a slightly sweet, slightly tangy (in a ciderish, apple juice, lemony, citrus sort of way). It is quite light and none to overpowering with sourness.

In terms of beers that exhibit any acidity, this beer is probably a 2/10 on my sour scale.

This is an interesting beer, but not something that I am likely to buy again. I like berliners to be much more tangy and sour.

Brewed Summer 2013 this is a little old but I don't believe that matters so much for this style.

Hazy straw color with a towering, white head. Head thins to a meandering spit wad. Smells chapagne-ish. Barn and stale sweat. Tastes like tart unripened peaches.

I bought this to compare to Jamil’s berliner that I just brewed. White Birch’s rendition is far superior and that’s no fault of Jamil.
