A fine example of an American Berliner Weisse. Really is. The real deal here. My mini-review, from notes:

A. Hazy pale straw, short, fizzy head that falls to naught. Of course, cloudy, as it should be.

S. Ah ha! Sour-lemon, wheat, very fresh and clean, yet almost soft. Pale and no hops to be found, just that sort of 'raw' wheat and grain bill, perhaps a little grassy, tempered with sour-mash goodness.

T. Long sour lemon, dry, grainy, quite good. This is 6.4%? Clean, refreshing, eye-opening . Simple, direct, cleansing. Gosh, I don't know what to say... I want more though.

M / D. Well nigh perfect, they've nailed this one. Full carbonation, spritzy, long, inviting more.

This is my first White Birch beer, but I have to say, they've got this one down cold. If you like Berliner Weisse on the bigger, sourer side, like I do, then this is one to seek out. Nicely done, chaps! Thanks to Todes and Bobby8405 for sharing.

Bottle share at Proof courtesy of sconnell. Pours a clear straw. Almost no head or collar. Aroma is grassy, funky, and some white grape. Taste is tart, light lemon, some faint earth. Medium-high carbonation despite the lack of head or collar. Good light, crisp body. It does hide the 5.5% well.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass

A - A very hazy orange/gold, slight head that disappeared immediately with just a few bubbles floating on the top.

S - Get some lemon, slight doughy scent, a bit of orange.

T - Initial tart lemon drop, with some yeasty wheat, tartness leaves quickly with a slight dry slate like finish.

M - Tart, mild bodied, mild carbonation

O - I like this beer, nice and balanced with a tartness that is not overpowering, good quaffer

Thanks to scoobydank for this bottle of a brewery I haven't approached since having back-to-back infected bottles, albeit quite a while back. Another go? Why not. 22 oz. bottle with stark black-on-white label split with my wife after too much good Thai food.

The pour yelps 'summer!' even though it's snowing Armageddon one state over, light orange, with a head that collapses into nadda in minutes. Clear, though I left the last few ounces in the bottle. Nose is tar orange/lemon with a nice side of sour-tinged spring wheat. Promising.

White Birch Berliner Wiesse gives me hope this little brewery doesn't suck anymore. Nice citric lemon base that is neither too sour nor too wheaty. The wheat come on after the tartness passes, & finishes with a jolt of acidity. Lack of caronbation dints what should be a very drinkable beer: by halfway through it's close to dead flat.

Well not everything was perfect, but this is a pretty good beer. A few more bubbles would have jacked up my score & really turned this into a nice post-lawnmower beer.
