Okay, I know this is mainly a wine place, but they market themselves as having a decent beer selection too. As far as wine is concerned, they knock that out of the park. Since this is a beer site though, I am not rating based on the wine portion.

In regards to their beer selection, not good. It was pretty lacking at this location, with a layer of dust on pretty much everything. All beer was on shelves (in a pretty warm building I might add), and only 4 very small cooler doors holding a few selections of more common beers.

Service was friendly, for the part that I saw. Only a couple people there and they seemed distracted. Friendly when spoken to though.

I bought something out of courtesy, but will not be coming back here again.

I was visiting St. Louis for a very brief and busy trip and this place was minutes from where I was staying in Webster Groves. Thank the lord! I had an extremely brief window to shop for beer while in Missouri and this lovely shop fit the bill perfectly. I was able to grab a number of beers I can't get at home and I was looking for in particular: Boulevard Saison Brett and Tank 7, Odell IPA and Myrcenary 4 pack, as well as some O'Fallon and Schlafly.

The store also had an impressive array of Euro beers, particularly Belgians, as well, but I skipped those as I have access to them back east. Obviously their wine and cheese selections are quite good; the folks I was staying with were regular customers for these products.

Not being a local I can't speak to how this store measures up to others in terms of prices and selection. I'm pretty sure this is the best option in the neighborhood and, as I said, I wasn't afforded the time to shop around so I was extremely happy to give them my business! Staff was friendly and I had some delicious free chocolate samples at the counter. I'll be back next time I'm in this neck of the woods.

Dropped by (after finding this place on the internet) on a trip through STL. Great little wine/beer/spirits store. Their prices are fairly reasonable and they've got some pretty impressive beer selections. I think I saw all of the Trappist breweries (except Westvleteren, obviously), and there was a nice selection of other single bottles and six packs from England, Scandinavia, Belgium, and Germany, as well as a nice selection of US micros. While the selection (beer, at least) is about the same size as Arena here in Columbia, they have some beers that are pretty tough to get ahold of either here in central MO or even back home in central IL. I saw the Chimay magnum, as well as a 3L bottle of Samichlaus (if only, right?), as well as the Sherry and Calvados Cask JW Lees, Peche Mortel, Fantome, Ola Dubh, etc. All in all, it was a pretty good day for me. They've also got a decent selection of imported cheeses and chocolates, and a nice wine selection as well. The staff, while not super-helpful were friendly enough, especially when we had credit card troubles.

All in all, great little store; I'm looking to go back in 6 months or so and pick up some more brews for the cellar; I think I'm going to look into some of the other 3 locations as well, as I've heard they're a bit bigger.

The Wine and Cheese Place in Rock Hill is located in a small strip mall on Manchester. First and foremost, the selection is not as large as the Clayton location but it is still good. The majority of the beer are on wire shelves on the left hand side of the store. Some beer is in coolers. Any American craft brew that is in Missouri is in this store, including some small local craft brews (Charleville, Tin Mill). It has a pretty good Belgian and import selection. Again, it is a smaller selection than the Clayton location, but it is still good. Coming from Columbia (like I do) the selection is huge in comparison to my local shops. The beer is away from windows and I've had no problems with spoiled brews. The service is okay. They had sales on some of their new additions, like Moylans. Overall, I'd say that it is worth a stop if you are in the area and don't have the time to go to the Clayton location.
