This Belgian-style Abbey Ale has a smooth malt backbone with hints of clove and spice from the Belgian yeast used. Big aromas and flavors of cherry pie are this brew’s signature character due to the large amounts of sweet and tart cherry added to the tank while this beer was being produced.

Very malty with really nice tart cherry on the nose and the finish. It's a little thinner on the mouthfeel than expected with a pronounced alcohol flavor. Overall, a very enjoyable beer.

Great sour cherry taste with well balanced hop bitterness and malt base. This brewery is maturing nicely and putting out some excellent beers.

Dust Bowl's Twisted Monk, Belgian-style Abbey ale with cherries. 7.7% ABV.
A: Pours yellow, brown, and reddish. About a finger of head, which quickly dissipates to nearly nothing. An interesting dirty reddish-brown, like a redder tamarind. Yellow in the dimple. Decent sheeting; tilting the glass leaves just a few dots of lacing, which immediately fade away.
S: Earthier black cherry, up front; though, not very strong. Earthy malt.
T/MF: Incredibly dry. More of the earthy malt, with a very dry, almost bitter cherry note. A slight tart wash around the edges.
I can't say I recommend this one. I guess if you like a more earthy and dry Belgian beer?
Poured from a 22 oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.
