Another Bistro dipa fest review, another orange pour, this one looked very clean though, not much sediment or haze to this one. Aroma, what aroma? I almost gave it a straight "2" in aroma, but since there was no off flavor, I'll give it a minor reprieve, but really, there was just no hop aroma, no aroma period.

Taste, decent, bitterness kicks it up a notch, high carbonation. A decent double ipa, I think I like the hops of wrath single slightly more. All the usual descriptors, grapefruit, citrus, cascade hops. Good enough, not going to knock the socks off any hophead though, and the lack of a dry hop aroma really leaves you feeling disappointed right out the gate on this one.

Nice DIPA. Usually well priced.

Poured a finger and half of head on a clear, dark straw colored body.
The aroma is lemon, apricot and grapefruit. Nice combination.
The taste has a sharp pine bitterness throughout with a touch of honey and a biting pine bitter finish.
The texture is soft with a low to moderate carbonation.
Quite good and enjoyable.

Served in a 13oz mason jar.
Bottled 5/01/14. So, fairly fresh.

Overall all not bad. Im not a huge fan of Hops of Wrath. Then again Im not a huge fan of single IPA's. I actually really liked this one one tho. It was slightly boozy, but that is ok in my book and its a staple of Dust Bowl Double IPA's. Personally, I still prefer Therapist, but this one wasn't bad at all. Ive been waiting a long time to find a fresh bottle of this. Honestly, if you dont like this beer, then you either dont like big, strong, hoppy, IPA's or you didnt try it fresh. :)

Cheers and happy hunting.

I liked it a lot. Fruity, but like the name implies, kind of a dusty finish. Solid DIPA. Little bit of a bite, probably due to a slight over-carbonation, but not overwhelming. It's almost perfect; get rid of the "dust," and it'd be in my top 5.

Very under rated DIPA ' S, tropical fruits on the nose and palate. Well balanced with bitter hops. Tropical fruits are backed up with a nice amount of bitterness. This is one of my favorite DIPA and anyone who hasn't tried it doesn't know what they're missing. This is a solid 4-4.5 Very well crafted! Nice balance of flavors.

Bomber into a snifter, the brew appears a clear copper color with yellowish tan cap.

The smell includes caramel malt and pine with a vegetative touch. Almost a cheesy aspect like some highly hopped brews have. Some soapiness is evident as it warms.

The taste is pine to herbal bitterness, grassy and some noticeable cardboard-like oxidation and papery caramel malt flavors towards the finish.

This is medium bodied and modestly carbonated. Not bad but not that great either. Regardless I appreciate the chance to try these Tim.

Bitter up front and a little piney. Lots of carbonation and some bite in each initial sip. Nice sticky lacing. The malt character is barely present and seems mostly blanketed by the hoppiness. It's interesting that the 'Son' does not quite represent the 'Hops of Wrath.'

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Bottled 9/26/14.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and earth aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, earth, and grapefruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid citrus forward hop qualities all around.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into an Allagash cervoise glass.

A: Two fingers of white head. Great lacing. Clear amber.

S: Grapefruit. Juicy hops are aromatic and vaguely herbal. I like it!

T: It tastes even better! A great DIPA, with loads of (fresh?) hops, high bitterness, and perhaps (probably) Simcoe hops? Amidst sweetish orange lurks woody-piney flavors, and a hint of onion.

M: Robust and full. Juicy and alluring.

O: A surprisingly excellent DIPA! *Slightly* oniony, but more fruity-bitter than not. Highly enjoyable and recommended.

A: Translucent orange with a white head.

S: Orange, pineapple and tropical fruit in the nose.

T: Pine, orange, pineapple, apple, mango and tangerine.

M: Medium bodied with typical IPA carbonation.

O: Way underrated. That seems to be the case with a lot of these little breweries in the central valley/sacramento areas.

22 oz bottle poured into a pilsner.
A: lovely honey-golden color, two-finger head, nice lacing
S: heavy scent of citrus hops with a hint of toffee and sweetness
T: citrus hops heaven--wrap fresh grapefruit rind inside-out around a brick! A bit of malt and toffee, then a hint of alcohol, and a grapefruit finish
M: thick side of medium, like melted butter
O: truly outstanding, one of the best double IPAs I've tasted. I love Hops of Wrath, and this one is simply awesome. The guy who started this brewery in Turlock, I heard used to be a high school teacher just 8 miles down the road from where I live. Try this one if you can find it!
