I successfully ordered from here recently. Special request was served. Communication was satisfactory. The key is that I can get local beers not widely distributed, viz. Pipeworks, and other upcoming very new and small breweries (where I can get better stock of new releases). I will order again. Had it shipped to a FedEx as the timing was good for the window of pickup.

20 West is on the sleepy little main street of old Lombard. It's a downtown location I really appreciate seeing these days since they're few and far between. An old, established, well worn building set in between other old, established well worn buildings on an old main street. Founders and Summit neon signs are the only indication this place is a liquor store from more than 50ft away.
Walking inside I'm first greeted by a corner stand of Wild Blossom meads. Past that stands a couple long isles of wine with the beer selection in cooler and small, tall shelves at the end of the store. There's so much beer for such a little store it seems they ran out of room and started building shelves for beer alone.
There's an in depth selection of locals; four Local Option offerings, A full six shelf unit of Pipeworks, Spiteful, and Begyle. The coolers are full of six packs and there's another four shelves of quality selections such as Upright, Stillwater, Green Flash, Prairie, and a full line of Flesk Brewing bottles (a lesser known local). Some bottles may be a little older than you'd like so keep an eye out for that but the selection is good none the less.
The prices are comparable to other suburban liquor stores. The guy behind the counter asked if I was looking for anything in particular but I was just taking my time so the help was offered. Thumbs up.
20 West isn't a destination liquor store but it's, without a doubt, worth a stop if in the area. A nice selection on a sleepy, old school, main street. Decent prices and a strong offering of locals will bring me back in the future.

Great shop. very friendly staff who are willing and want to talk to their customers. i have ordered multiple times from 20 west online and one time did not receive packages because of a miscommunication that was no ones fault but of course they shipped the package immediately and included a free zombie dust!

I have been loathe to write a review of this fine establishment as I would very much like to keep it's awesomeness all to myself...my own personal craft beer cellar/store not even a 15 min. walk from where I live. 20 West Wine & Spirits is a craft beer gem found in a most unlikely place...Lombard, IL...and it is high time the world knew of its existence!
Tucked away in the Lilac Village's downtown district, one could walk right past the unassuming storefront and not even notice the neon signs in the window displaying beloved words such as "Founders", "Two Bros.", "Revolution", "Bells", "Sierra Nevada". A craft beer lover might feel discouraged as they walk in and are greeted with an assault of wine bottles everywhere...but they should keep walking...all the way to the back...'cause that's where the treasures lie!
An entire wall of coolers chock full of craft beer stares back at you as if it were the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. What's in those coolers? Craft beer standards for all styles (the goodies you know and love and keep coming back to), hard-to-find seasonal beers that are good the whole year through, beers from breweries from around the country and the world that you wouldn't see much of anywhere else in such stock, and the all-too-occasional rarity brew that NO ONE has. The cooler magnificence stretches around the corner to display it's excellent selection of canned craft beer from Oskar Blues to Ska and everything in between that's canned. Whenever I come here I just go to the back and stare for a good 10 min...to take it all in...to make sure I haven't missed anything...to evolve as a beer drinker with this craft beer monolith.
But wait...there's more! 20 West has two dedicated towers for a single bottle section that lets you purchase one or craft a 6'er of your own. This is an outstanding concept to get patrons to try new beers without the 6-pack price-tag. Sure, other beer stores may have a single bottle section...but not with a variety like this. The selection you have to choose from is uncanny, with every brewery between both coasts and overseas having a good showing...from Stone, Lagunitas, and Rogue to Dogfish Head, Southern Tier, and Shmaltz to Brew Dog, Mikeller, and Hitachino. Always loyal to their region, 20 West has another tower committed to displaying the beers of the many breweries that are appearing in IL. Read about a new brew on Beer Advocate? They probably have it or can tell you when they're getting it. I have NEVER been to a beer store that had Three Floyds (6'ers, singles, bombers) on the shelf as regularly and consistently as 20 West, which is saying something for a Chicagoland suburban beer store.
The service here is outstanding. Couldn't ask for a more laid-back and friendly place to buy the brews I love so much. A truly knowledgeable staff that is just as passionate about craft beer as all of us are. They will never hesitate to take the time to talk all things beer with you or point you in the right direction if you're new to this wonderful world or are an old pro and want to try something new. The store stock is updated regularly on their website and on beermenus.com. 20 West frequently holds beer tastings paired with regional food like IL artisan cheese and Boar's Head ham sandwiches prepared by the butcher/deli across the street (their website lists them as they are planned) and just today I learned about a craft beer club they're starting up soon. There really is nothing not to like about this place!
(I gave the "Food" category a 5, because they do indeed carry some edibles. That excellent IL artisan cheese I mentioned earlier. I've gotten to try a wide variety and it is a worthy purchase if pairing with the awesome beer you just bought.)
So now that I've blown the lid off my favorite, unknown, totally righteous beer spot, I highly encourage both locals and those looking for a good excuse to have a beer quest to come and see for yourself the wonders that 20 West Wine & Spirits holds! You will not be disappointed.
p.s. (@ 20 West) Yo! Get a bold, daring sign put above that awning so you guys can declare to the world how awesome you are! Like a neon pin-up girl that says, "Come In!" in flashing letters)
