At 7.5% alcohol, this award-winning brew is a true winter warmer. Blueberry Oatmeal Stout has hints of chocolate, oatmeal and fresh blueberries. A wonderful pairing of flavors! Great for the holidays and for those who enjoy discovering new beers.

Poured into Duvel Tulip

A:Very dark brown. One finger light tan head disipates very fast. Not a lot of lacing.
S: Blueberry! A whole lot of blueberry.
T: Sweet blueberries, roasted malt, finishes with a much needed slight bitterness.
M: Thin mouthfeel for the style
D: This one is weird. Thin body, lots of blueberry. One bottle is enough.

This dose not scream out stout too me except for the color. I appreciate the creativity but I dont think the blueberry works that well.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours pitch black with barely a ring of too-white foam around the top that fizzles away. Aroma is blueberry and cardboard - with extra cardboard.

First sip is... oddly spiced. I swear I'm picking up cinnamon and clove flavors. Also, there is a strange lingering non-hop bitterness - quite harsh. You can kind of taste the blueberry in the back a little, but barely.

What I don't taste is the real problem. No malty sweetness, no roasted bitterness, no hops, and a thin mouthfeel to boot. There should be a nice smooth, silky mouthfeel from the oatmeal, but that is lacking as well.

Drinkability suffers due to the strange bitter aftertaste and lack of balancing sweetness. This is not the first sub-par beer that I've had from this brewery (see pumpkin ale). Will be extremely wary of them in the future.

Do not recommend.

Had a bottle of this at the Cloverleaf Tavern in West Caldwell, NJ

A: Pours a dark brown body with a small, brown head. Pretty poor retention, but decent lacing along the top of the beer and along the glass.

S: Kind of a tart, blueberry smell.

T: A nice, blueberry taste with a roasted coffee aftertaste. Hints of a chocolate was also evident in the aftertaste. The beer kind of reminded me of chocolate covered blueberries.

M: A nice, silky, full-bodied mouthfeel that was pleasant to the palette.

D: A very drinkable beer. Excellent taste with a very good, smooth mouthfeel to compliment the taste. Definitely a well-rounded beer that I would highly recommend.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This pours a dark brown with a tan head. The smell is mostly of artificial blueberries. The feel is medium to light, lighter than most stout. The taste is okay, blueberries and bitter stout, but not something I'd get again.

Thanks for AKBelgianBeast for this one in that I lost the LNBA FF.

A- Dark in the glass, but when poured is very light brown. The tan head is there, but leaves quickly.

S- The blueberry is there, and smells like blueberry pie. There is a nice chocolate smell coming through too. It isn't a bad smell.

T- Now the blueberry comes though, but it feels like the makers made some random standard "stout recipe" and threw blueberries into it. The stout portion isn't developed very well and this has a real acrid bitter taste to it. The blueberry flavor is there for sure, so that part has come though, but this bitterness just kills the whole thing all together. I know dark beers and fruit are a great idea, but make sure you have a rocken dark beer recipe for a backbone to allow the fruit flavor to fall back upon. If not it just becomes this crap beer with fruit flavor, making this just a mess.

M- Medium bodied, with carbination, but the bitterness is not a pleasant mouthfeel. Kinda drys out the tongue too.

D- Yeah you can drink this, but I wouldn't advise in buying it.

When I first opened the bottle, it was like opening a very high carbonated soda with lots of noise! Pours a dark reddish brown with a thick head that took forever to dissipate. I have never seen this before. The aroma was pleasing with like a wheat blueberry pie. Just one sip and your mouth filled up with the carbonation! Damn Sam! Didn't taste too bad but the excessive carbonation killed it overall. Ended up poring the last 1/4 in the sink.

12 Oz Bottle poured into Pint Glass

A: Very dark with a hint of Violet... 2 fingers tan colored head, with very nice lacing.

S: Blueberries, Malt, and a hint of chocolate... Very nice.

T: Sweet blueberry right up front, then the malt and chocolate comes in.

M: Creamy and smooth.... With a nice sweetness.... a little fruity tangyness on the aftertaste.

D: This is my first Fruit Stout... and blueberry is a nice touch with the creamy stout... Well balanced.... I'll look for this one again...

12 ounce bottle poured into a Unibroue tulip. Light beige, one finger head lingers above a black body. Aroma is of blueberry, and maybe some toasted malts. I suppose it smells about what I expected after having Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin. Smells refreshing actually. Taste is less sweet than expected after considering the aroma. No alcohol heat noted. Taste is malty with notes of blueberry of course. Pretty smooth. Overall, not very complex, but a very tasty treat...and interesting and pleasing.

Presentation: 12 oz bottle into a snifter.

A- Dark translucent/borderline opaque brown with ruby highlights. Pours with <1 finger of tan head, which fades almost instantly, leaving a thin ring. No lacing noted.

S- Blueberries and a slightly unusual boozy quality. A rather unrefined aroma. Not quite off-putting, but certainly not enticing.

T- A slightly sour fruitiness/green blueberry is the first impression, with the more quintessentially mature blueberry flavor peaking on the finish/aftertaste. Sweetness is fairly restrained, and bitterness is minimal. Strange flavor, but not unpleasant when taken as a whole.

M- Moderately high carbonation, which is fairly biting. Rather thin, and not particularly smooth, and wholly lacking in creaminess. Quite off for what I'd expect in an oatmeal stout.

D- Not terrible, but I can't fathom wanting to drink more than one in a sitting.

Future outlook: Not a terrible beer, and was fine for a novel experience, but not something worth revisiting. I'd be interested in trying a full bodied, creamy blueberry-oatmeal stout if one exists (?), but this one doesn't fill that bill.

Poured ½ of the bottle into a snifter. Man...little to no head was formed...hopefully not a sign of things to come. The body is dark brown with lighter edges when held up to the light.

Blueberries on the nose of course! This is followed by some toasted grainy malts, coffee and maybe a little dark chocolate in the background. There is something about this smell that reminds me of a barber shop or a hair salon...strange!

The blueberry flavor hits the palate first. It is an odd flavor...a little on the plastic/fake tasting side. The stout characteristics kick in once warmed. Roasted malts, coffee and chocolate.

The mouth feel is medium...a little dry and carbonated.

This is a very odd combo of flavors...didn't really work for me...will not be getting again.

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This Oatmeal Stout poured a poured a brownish color, produced a nice tan head, decent retention and it left a little lacing on the glass.
The aroma consisted of fresh blueberries and roasted malt. Medium in body, ultra smooth and creamy. Foundation of roasted malt, blueberry, and chocolate. Overall, nice session beer, first fruit Stout that I have sampled, it was well balanced.

pours a rich, murky chocolate brown with a fairly creamy two-finger light chocolate head that leaves fair lacing down the glass. That's where the pleasantries cease, however.

aroma is decidedly blueberry, although in an unpleasant, funky, "is that fake blueberry?" sort of a way. Hints of roasted malts, cocoa, and coffee are all but completely masked by the overwhelming blueberry that isn't quite blueberry muffin enough to be pleasant. verging on sickly.

Taste isn't an improvement. There's hints of some dark malt and cocoa, but it's fairly weak... and quivers in the shadows of the monstrous and brash blueberry. An oatmeal stout? It's hard to tell... the stout qualities are weak, the blueberry overbearing and intrusive. There's an unpleasant citrus bitterness on the finish that isn't helping anything.

Mouthfeel is thin, light, and fairly carbonated. not the creamy oatmeal stout I long for. If this were a bit thicker, I might be able to get past the over-blueberriness and lack of roastiness. but it's not. it's thin and slick enough to let the almost-artificial blueberry completely assault my taste buds.

I had high hopes for this one. but they were quickly quashed. If there was more of a stout to stand up to the blueberry, this could actually be great. But the stout wasn't there... and the blueberry definitely was. Not awful, but not really enjoyable. a novel idea that is fun for a sip or two but not quite solid enough to enjoy the whole bottle.

Picked up a six of this on way to byob- seemed interesting to try. bottle poured into wine glass.

A: Pitch black color with a khaki solid head and some lacing.

S: The weakest point of the drink, I think the fake sugar blueberry was a bit overpowering and hid the malt/oatmeal flavors that made an appearnce more in flavor.

T: Oddly enough, a good combination here. Blueberry and the malt was actually very good. The sweetness was a bit much at times but the stout really held up.

M: Chewy and biscuity.

D: Didnt read the abv on the bottle and was quite surprised. Well hidden and expected not to like, good surprise.
