Bottle: Good brown bottle, old country-style label.
Appearance: Pours a pleasant amber colour, with a filmy white head of tiny bubbles, that dissipate pretty quickly.
Aroma: Nose has some pleasant citrus characters, but it's all a bit muted. a bit of wood bark, and something slightly astringent
Taste: Pleasant light fruit characters with a soft sweetness like light caramel. It's smooth enough, but quite light in flavour
Aftertaste: Lingers quite nicely, similar taste
Mouth feel: Medium body and carbonation. A bit too much carbonation for the style.
Overall: A nicely presented pale ale, but it is a bit too 'standard' to warrant the high price of $75 a case (2012). Not really enough going on, but for a good sessional beer, it would be very nice indeed if it was around the $55 a case mark.

Pours a pleasant amber colour, with a filmy white head of tiny bubbles, that dissipate pretty quickly to nothingness. Good body. Looks reasonable, but the lack of head is a bit disappointing.
Nose has some pleasant citrus characters, but it's all a bit muted. a bit of wood bark, and something slightly astringent. It's not terrible, but it's not particularly exciting.
Taste is similar. Pleasant light fruit characters with a soft sweetness that comes over a bit like mildly watered-down caramel. Not a lot of anything on the palate, to be honest. It's smooth enough, but pretty bland. Feel is round and smooth.
It's not a bad beer, and it has its good points, but there seems to be a lot missing on it for an APA.

Pours a translucent golden colour. Head is fluffy and just off-white. Good head retention.
Tropical fruits are all through the aroma, typical of the Nelson Sauvin hops used. There is also a slight malt note.
The citric, tropical fruits are abundant in the flavour as well with mango, passionfruit and grapefruit all there. Quite a heavy dose of bitterness for the style but it works well enough. A nice lingering bitterness.
A medium body works well here but this is a high carbonation level which is a little too high and is fairly prickly.
A very good beer. Certainly not a Pale Ale for the sake of a Pale Ale. An unusual hop choice, nice bitterness and a sessionable ABV makes this a drinkable beer.
