Stopped by FW and heard about this place. Thought we'd stop by and check it out.
Small, but nice tap selection. Good bottle selection of the usual suspects, mostly west coast stuff. Very friendly service behind the bar. We couldnt find what we wanted, but the guy working the bar was very helpful making suggestions. Good value with pricing.
This place had a cool lounge feel with couches to relax and enjoy your favorite brew. Also noticed a stage off to one side which means occasional live music. We were too early for that so we missed out.
If i lived in Paso or close by, I'd probably make this a regular hangout.

This place is great for someone like me who is busting out of the standard beer mold, and lives in the area. The staff is very freindly and personable. They have a decent enough selection of bottled beer and beers on tap to keep me happy. The owner will make recommendations if thats what you are looking for, thanks for the rec on the Kern River Just Outstanding, very good. My wife and I and friends will ocassionally come on the weekends to watch live music. Which can be a lot of fun. Very kicked back vibe with pool table, couches, and tall Tables + bar stools. Great place.

I haven't done a review in a long time, but the Pour House is worth it. When I moved from Paso Robles from LA six years ago, this was wine paradise but beer hell. That started changing slowly but much more rapidly with the opening of the PH.
The atmosphere is like being in a good friend's really nicely set up garage. Although we have a lot of tourists, it's really a locals spot primarily and the faces are almost always familiar and friendly. People bring in food pot luck style occasionally and the vibe couldn't be friendlier. It's a warehouse type space so it's not fancy but it is always clean and well-kept.
Shawn has brought a lot of beers to the House that I'd never seen in SLO County before. In a few minutes, I'll be leaving to have some more Kern River Just Outstanding IPA followed by a Racer X. The rotating taps hit most of the popular styles, but could stand for a few more Belgian styles in the rotation in my view. The prices are fair, especially when you hit the generous happy hour.
The Pour House doesn't have food so eat ahead of time or be ready to call for pizza delivery. Also, check the website ahead of time to see what kind of music will be on stage. Bands play Thursday through Sunday, with some fun jam sessions with local musicians. The Pour House has been a much-appreciated addition to the local beer scene.

As my friend put it, "This is like your garage on steroids."
It doesn't get more relaxed/comfortable than this. The Pour House has billiards, darts, arcade games, couches, coffee tables, and live music. The walls are decorated with rare bottles and California microbrewery memorabilia. Every patron is friendly and respectful. This is the perfect gathering place for any occasion!
The owner, Shawn, mans the bar nightly. He's very friendly and talkative, and offers beer suggestions when asked. He's also hosted several BA events, which makes me like him even more.
The selection is continuously growing, but currently offers a number of high quality Californian micros on-tap, and even more in bottle. Shawn really highlights on the local breweries (Central Coast, Einhorn, Firestone, Nectar), something I greatly appreciate.
I hope this place doesn't ever change. I can already see that it's building a solid local following, and I bet it'll get even more popular as time goes on. I really wish The Pour House was closer to SLO - I'd be in the all the time!

The most recent Central Coast BA Gathering was here, just after the FW13 release. Located just around the corner from the FW brewery, it is a spacious places with warehouse type door that opens up into the parking lot. Nice bar area and tvs on the walls. Beer coolers are accessible by the bar on the wall. Lots of comfortable seating. Atmosphere is good. Atmosphere was good, very good since we were having a massive gathering and a party bus showed up. All in all, the service was gracious, very gracious and very good. Selection was was largely Central Coast on tap and that is very good. If you want a buttload of SD beers, go to SD. Lots of bottles to choose from as well. Maybe about 10-12 handles. Prices are good. No food.
Stopped in on 6 Feb and the selections has expanded even more. Racer X and Oaked Bastard on tap. Build your 6er which had a great selection of California craft brew.

Paso Pour house is nestled right behind Firestone Brewery right off the 101 highway. Formally known as Monte Leon's Rock. Now the torch has been pased to Shawn and his wife "O" Copen and I like what I see...
I have built a great relationship with The Pour House. Shawn is a true beer geek and enjoys it when someone comes in ready to talk about beer. I have spent hours shooting the breeze with him just talking about beer. The store has only been open for about 4-5 months under Pour House and he is slowly building a clientele. The atmosphere is welcoming... kind of like a Starbucks for beer drinkers. Theres a couple couches for lounging. There is board games and beer books laying around. He also carries the Celebrator. There is a stage for music. Shawn has made a really great push to get local artists in the county to come in and perform and theres a good chance you might catch a performance if you swing by at night.
Service is great from a customer service aspect. You are always tended to but you will get more attention if you spark conversation about beer. Shawns goal is to have you come back so he will do whatever he can to keep you happy.
Selection is average in a broad spectrum but really good considering the area. Pour House is the only of its kind in the San Luis Obispo north county. Bottle selection is vast but not rare. There is a great selection of west coast brews, a decent selection of Belgians, and a dedicated cooler to local breweries which is pretty neat. I think theres close to 11 taps now that arent to easy to find in all of SLO county... Chico Estate, Alley Cat, Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout, Scrimshaw, Firestone Oaktoberfest, etc... Look for the Micro selection to improve over the next few months... Theres even a dedicated PBR tap for those who dont care about what beer tastes like...
No food here other than some honey pretzels. He does have a BBQ that he will fire up for you if you want to have a get together. He usually will have a few sodas for sale and will usually have a local wine just incase wifey needs a fix...
Prices are reasonable considering the variety available. Overall, this is a great place for beer drinkers of all shapes and sizes. A great oasis in northern SLO county. Send me a beer mail if you plan to stop by and I might even meet up with you for a beer or five! Cheers!
