Pours a deep brown with almost zero tan headskie. Sweet chewy nose well balanced. Goes down very smooth and is quite easy to drink. If it were just a touch less sweet I could drink it all night. A very decent dark lager. Quite surprised to run into this one, but I'm glad I picked it up.

Pours a reddish brown color with a this fizzy head it looked like pop, highly carbonated and fizzy.Picked up mainly caramel malt in the aroma along with some light roasted nuttiness.Man the mouthfeel is like pop as well sharp on the tongue and pretty thin.Taste of sweet caramel and roasted grain with even some soapiness in there late.Wow really let down by this beer I really like the Klaster lager and Winter lager but this falls way way short of those two,I'll stick with them.

Appearance This is a nice dunkel Dunkel with a gorgeous head. It came up easy, nothing explosive, but left huge chunks of brown foam on top of the liquid and alongside the interior glass.
Smell Big, rich, caramel malts fill the room upon pouring this lager. It is such a rich combination of very dark malt and super-thick caramel. Wow!
Taste Ouch, this one is a bit rough on the tongue. The rich, creamy aroma from the nose came in a bit off. Its not bad, but the harsh molasses flavor doesnt live up to the smell.
Mouthfeel This was thinner than I had hoped but overall was nice and refreshing.
Drinkability This is a good, very dark example of the style.

Appearance: darker , clear reddish brown/ mahogany , with a small off white head.
Smell: mainly of the malts , roasty characters , bit of mustyness , hint of dried dark fruit / raisin.
Taste: nice dunkel flavor , if maybe a little thin , roasty maltiness and slight dark fruit , bit of tart like hop bite in the back to balance.
Mouthfeel: slightly creamy yet not thick.
Drikability: a very drinkable dunkel lager from the Czech Republic , in the Munich style.

Before I get completely hooked on porters, I had to try another type of beer. This one poured very much like Coke or Pepsi in terms of color and rowdy initial carbonation. Head was coarse, here then gone leaving a ring and very little lacing.
Smell was mild malt and a hint of coffee? Taste was pretty much what the nose gave hints of. Mild finish after a thin but not watery mouthfeel. Overall a good experience if not special.

Dark russet leather cropped with biege.
Prune juice, candied apple, and brown sugar nose, cut and dried with a stalky bitterness.
Begins with a swaying breadiness, full of dark grains and hulls. Ebbs towards vaporous coffee and chocolate. Dark fruits ooze in, with gripping and clinging raisin, plum, and fig cues. Brown sugar is glazed crunchily over it all. Turns towards damp ferns upon the entrance of the hops, but the sugary hues linger as it ends a la sweetened tea.
Light bodied and modestly carbonation via midget bubbles.
Quite a nice sweeter-styled dunkel lager.

Never have a problem with Czech beers anytime. Good dark brown, no lingering head. A whiff of licorice aroma. Medium or less mouthfeel, quite drinkable with active carbonation. Good taste, with chocolate malt, competitive with English browns, with this sessionable ABV.

Picked up a single at Riley's here in Madison.
Pours a dark brown nearing on black with a short tan head. Smells of bitter coffee and malts, with some dark fruit. Taste has the bitter coffee, then strange dark fruits reminding me of Black Boss porter, and ending with an apple cider sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little watery, but smooth. Overall an alright drinker, lots of flavors, but they don't always jive. Worth a try though

Klaster dark Beer: half liter euro-style bottle. has a light licorice aroma and tastes. Deep black color, no head worth speaking of, certainly no lace. Molasses is the predominant flavor, however, and there is nary a hop to be found. OK for $1.29 a bottle but do not bother paying more.

Purchased at Bierkraft, Brooklyn. Deep ruby red, not overly carbonated. Minimal head which disappeared totally within a few minutes. Aroma is malty, slightly vinous. Flavour is soft with malt and caramel to the fore, and there is an underlying sweetness but not too much in the way of balancing hoppiness.
A bit of a lightweight but pleasant enough.

My second dark lager of the evening....a murky brown lager that pour with ample carbonation, but somehow the head falls flat....disappointing. The nose is interesting...sort of a caramel and chocolate affair. Tastes almost like a weizenbock to me, with a soft mouthfeel and sweet caramel malt and toffee flavors. The bitterness is restrained, but a tart, mineral-laden finish is sort of interesting. This lager comes across fairly hearty for its four percent alcohol and it's fruity character (buried underneath the caramel malt) almost has thinking of British Mild. Overall, this is a lager that drinks more like an ale; it gets better as it warms up, fruitier and more tart. I would like to experience this beer on tap.

Pours a clear, dark ruby with a nice head. Smells chocolately, floral (Saaz), and fresh, a little metalic. Taste is a refreshing mix of sweet chocolate malts and noble hops. Finishes very clean. This beer won't "wow" you to death but it's a nice, crisp summer quaffer.

Flavor is sweet, sweet, sweet. caramel, prune juice, flat Pepsi. old bottle maybe? not too good. If I get a fresher bottle I will re-rate

After having the winter lager a week ago, I was looking forward to trying this one. What a disappointment.
Poured a brown with ruby tints. A slightly off-white head that does not last.
Aroma is sweet...some maltiness...this is not a pleasant sweetness. What's the opposite of crisp? That's what this is.
The flavor is of wort. Either some sweetness (sacchrine?) was added to this for some reason, or it didn't attenuate, or something went wrong.
I poured out half my sample. Go for the Winter Lager.

Pours a clear dark red beer.
Smell is intensely fruity and malty like a bock beer almost.
Taste is sweet with lots of malt and grain flavor. There is just enough hops in this to keep the malt sugars in check. The fruit flavor is there to with more of English Ale type fruitiness than the Bock beer version.
Mouthfeel is good and is well balanced between watery and chewy.
A tasty brew, only drawback is that it is a bit too sweet to drink as a session beer.

1/2 L bottle poured into a guinness imperial pint glass. Nice 1" head that lastes for a couple of minutes so I could pour the rest of the bottle into the glass. Crystal clear, brown with red highlights when held up to the light. aroma is al toasted malt with a hint of hops.
I love dark lagers, and this one does not disappoint. Nice balance between the malt and hops, with a slightly metallic aftertaste which is not too distracting - amazingly disappears when it warms.
nice mouthfeel with good carbonation and at 4% I could drink these all night. This one is slightly past its prime, but still good - I have had fresher examples in the past that were even better. If you are looking for a good introduction to czech dark lagers, look for one of these.

Picked this beer up from Pivni Galerie in Prague. This is the export version I believe, as the able is in english, and it lists the importer on the bottle.
Pours smoothly from the bottle, with a quickly expanding and dissapearing head. While it lasted the head was a light brown. The beer itself is dark mahogony. Can't judge the lacing because of residual water on the glass.
Smell is of malts, caramel and molasses.
Flavor is slightly muted. Sweet with caramel and molasses pervade. A touch of chocolate. The hops can be tasted slightly near the back of the mouth, but are hard to distinguish from the malt flavors. Finish is surprisingly dry for a sweet beer. Also leaves a pleasant sweetness on the lips. All the flavors present are very nice, but it's not very bold at all.
Feels watery and weak in the mouth. Mor carbonation could have made it more interesting.
A solid Czech dunkel. the dry finish is my favorite feature, because it's so different from other dark lagers, which normally finish very sweet.

Pours a clear dark mahogany brown with a tan head that recedes. A hint of ruby shines through when held to the light. Not much lacing.
A very light aroma. Slightly nutty with a mild roasted background and hints of caramel.
A light nutty flavor with a bit of a roated malt flavor. Some hints of caramel and chocloate also come through. Finishes slightly sweet.
Rather thin body.
Easy to consume, easy to forget.

This beer actually caught me by suprise. It is a dark brown in coler and there is a small head and almost no lacing. The smell is sweet and there is caramel in the smell as well as taste. The beer is smooth. This is a nice brown beer that I could drink again sometime.

16.9 oz. bottle. A red brown color with a tan head that fades quickly. Sweet, sweet smell of vanilla, almonds, and caramel. Creamy mouthfeel with decent carbonation; light to medium bodied.
Taste is yeasty, malty sweet with vanilla and a banana-raison bread flavor.
This is dessert in a bottle. A most excellent brew.
