This amber ale is so close in design to Seven Seas' British Pale that I don't see the point in offering both, especially when Seven Seas only brews three ales. Cutt's color is perhaps a darker amber-bronze. But the same yeast character pervades both beers and they are similarly undercarbonated and of minimalist design. Cutt's is a touch more bitter and sharply contoured, has a fuller body, and expresses greater charisma than the subdued British stylings of BPA. But the two beers don't distinguish themselves against one another and their proximity on adjoining taps seems redundant.

Tasted in a pint glass from draft at the 7 Seas Brewery and Taproom on July 31, 2018. This Northwest style amber ale, named in honor of our local Cutt’s Island, displays a brilliantly clear burgundy hue. It has a pleasantly floral and fruity aroma, a medium body, caramel-like malt flavors, and a pleasant lingering hop bitterness. Quite assertive for an amber, Cutt’s remains well balanced yet truly Northwest in its audacity.
