This Scottish-style ale pours from the pint can a ruby-amber in color. Virtually no lace here.

Aroma is malty sweet. I get a toasty toffee kind of vibe here. Not bad.

Taste is mild and sweetly malty, with more toffee tones and some nuttiness. Not a very compex flavor profile here, but very drinkable and session-worthy.

Can poured into a FFF tulip

A - Chesnut brown with hints of red. Clean looking and slightly reflective. Small mocha colored head that went down to a thin layer of foam quickly

S - Smoked malt. Definitely had a smokey peat presence. There are also hints of orange peel as well as caramel malt

T - Lots of caramel malty sweetness and actually a little too sweet for my taste Initally. There is none if the smoke that you pick up in the nose. There is a slight hop presence on the finish that gives it a light orange peel that lingers on.

MF - Heavily carbonated and a bit too heavily for me with a slight syrupiness to it

O - Decent Scottish ale from Sun King. I wish it had more of the smokiness that I smelled in the nose and it wasn't so sweet.

a - poured a one finger thick fluffy, light tan head into an english pub glass that left a thin ring and sheeting throughout. the body was a bright mahogany.
s - peaty and caramel malts. no hop aroma evident but that is fine for this style.
t - caramel and toffee with some raisins and cocoa flavors.
m - medium, slick and creamy.
o - another solid beer from sun king. this was a very drinkable and pleasant beer.

A- Pours a deep amber to chestnut brown hue. Slightly hazy. About a 2 finger head that is gone quickly, but laces ok.

S- All malt, but not very prominent. Peated malt and sweet caramel notes intermingle. Fairly one-dimensional.

T- Starts off with some peated malts and moves quickly into caramel flavors. Slightly soured flavors are there too. Ends with a some dark and sweet flavors, mostly brown sugar.

M- Thin and watery. Fairly highly carbonated. Rather easy to drink, but still pretty thin and almost sticky.

Overall, this one let me down quite a bit. A very thin and watery version of a Scotch Ale. Wished this one was heavier on the flavors it has and thicker.

(Served in a nonic)

A- This beer pours a crystal clear slightly dense brown body with a light tan head that soon fades to a spotty film. There is a gentle carbonation that trails up the glass.

S- The soft clean aroma has hints of woody brown malt.

T- The clean flavor has hints of dry brown malt and field corn with a grainy after taste that lingers.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a scrubbing fizz that covers the gentle flavor that it there. No alcohol heat noticed.

O- This beer is very light in flavor and character with the field corn flavor in the aftertaste being the strongest flavor. Not much there. Although the beer being described on the can sounds delicious.

Enjoyed at the AmeriCAN Canned Craft Beer Fest in Scottsdale.

Clear dark cherry in color, with a pillowy head of light tan foam.

Perfectly toasty nose. Baked bread, apple, caramel and pecan — good nuttiness. Sweet.

Lots of caramel in the flavor. A touch of smoke and nuts. Clean, toasty finish.

Very light, massaging carbonation in a medium-light body. Clean.

Very tasty and super drinkable. My favorite from Sun King so far.

Bottom of can printed: Ginger orrr Mariann 12124
Guessing April of '12 if it's a Julian date.

Pours into a mug a dark coppery brown, a thin one-finger tan head that fades to a skim after a few minutes.

Toasty with a light malt sweetness in the aroma, slight hint of dried fruit. Light toffee and multigrain bread crusts, sarsaparilla, flavorful and interesting. Lingering bready malt in the finish, initially light bodied and drinkable, becoming watery with some lightly astringent carbonation. A little better than I remember on tap a couple years ago.

Thanks to Howard via Aaron for this one!

Pours a nice coppery brown color, with a nice bit of head. Decent scent, very sweet and malty, although not very deep; has some slight caramal in the nose. Nice taste, a decent maltiness with a bit of toffee/caramal in the flavor; little hop characteristics, which is fine for the style. Slightly thin for an 80 shilling, but goes down quite well, a very nice near-session Scottish ale.
