From the can that found its way into my fridge, the ale was a handsome copper color with a bubbly and perhaps fluffy white head. The aroma was the high point of this beer for me. The aroma was largely grapefruit and grass, but there was an amazing amount of sweetness in the aroma. In the initial taste, one detects tangerine, passion fruit, tangy pine, and bitter resin. The bitterness dominates the sweet notes a little too much for my liking. With a name like grapefruit jungle, I wanted more fruit. The bitterness lasts into the aftertaste with thicker than expected mouthfeel allowing it to linger. An enjoyable brew, but I imagine great potential with some of the elements of this beer in an imperial.

64 oz growler served in a wine glass taster. Thanks to mishuggah for the share.
A: Pours a solid orange color with a thin white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring. Some splotchy lace left down the glass.
S: Some dirty berry and some solid grapefruit flesh on the nose with a mild dried grass note and cracker malts.
T: Large grapefruit upfront, mostly fleshy, with just a touch of bitter pith. Sweet bready malts with some dirty, earthy hops on the finish.
M: Clean and light bodied with a medium carbonation level.
O: Definitely lives up to the name with the grapefruit, but I was still slightly disappointed in this one. It's pretty hyped and I think it fell a little flat in complexity.
