64 oz growler served in a wine glass taster. Thanks to mishuggah for the share.
A: Pours a solid orange color with a thin white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thin ring. Some splotchy lace left down the glass.
S: Some dirty berry and some solid grapefruit flesh on the nose with a mild dried grass note and cracker malts.
T: Large grapefruit upfront, mostly fleshy, with just a touch of bitter pith. Sweet bready malts with some dirty, earthy hops on the finish.
M: Clean and light bodied with a medium carbonation level.
O: Definitely lives up to the name with the grapefruit, but I was still slightly disappointed in this one. It's pretty hyped and I think it fell a little flat in complexity.

Can shared by raveskdr. Thanks Chris!
The beer is orange with a white head. Big grapefruit juicy nose, with abundant hops, followed by some bready malts and a hint of alcohol. Nice flavor. Big and bold with sufficient bitterness in the back. A bit of warming alcohol heat in the finish. More of a sipper than a refreshing IPA. Good stuff.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. There is a number stamped on the bottom of can - 13182; perhaps the 182nd day of 2013 which would be about June. The ale has a very clean looking deep and clear golden hue with a foamy white head that dissipates leaving some intricate lacing on the glass.
Just as the name suggests, the aroma is predominantly grapefruit and citrus.
Of course the dominant flavor is grapefruit flavored hops with a sustained bitterness on the palate. This is definitely an American IPA style hop bomb. There is a faint nod to some malt in the aftertaste, but the smooth burn of hops is always present. On my palate, the hop profile is just a little one-dimensional. I was looking forward to the nuances of tangerine and apricot stated on the can, but I can detect very little of these flavors.
The body was light to medium with smooth but bitter mouth feel. The grapefruit bitterness lingers pleasantly on the palate.
Very good American IPA, especially after it warms a little in the glass. As other reviewers have stated, it is pricy but worth seeking out. I only wish the hop profile was more diverse.
