Thanks to robwestcott for this one.

Growler split with the girlfriend. Poured into two pint glasses.

A: Pours a pale golden, hazy, apple juice color. 1 finger white chunky head. Some lacing develops down the glass.

S: Cinnamon, banana yeast, freshly baked apple pie (go figure), and some brown sugar. Sweet dessert smelling beer.

T: Light and crisp. Was thinking this one might be a bit sweeter, but the taste is light enough to fit into the style. Tastes like the crust of a apple pie - cinnamon, sugar, hints of apples, and a little breadiness.

M: Light body with moderate carbonation.

D: To say that a beer tastes like an apple pie and is drinkable is unlikely - but the light body and subtle sweetness in this one makes it decently drinkable.

Interesting and tasty beer here.

I had really wanted to try this in December, when it was more readily available, so I was lucky to find it on tap at the Black Sparrow in West Lafayette. This beer poured a very cloudy pale yellow in color with a light white head. It smells like applie pie/cobbler. It has the spices down perfectly and also has this fresh cut apple vibe as well. The best part is that it's subtle and not presented in an over the top manner. It tastes just like apple pie. It even leaves the after taste of a fresh Washington apple behind. This reminds me of Leinenkugel's Apple Spice from a couple years back, but in a gentler and more beer like form. It's delicious really. It drinks very light and is actually surprisingly sessionable. You'd think that with all of the spices and apple pie flavor that it would be a little much but it's actually pretty well maintained. I'm definitely glad I got to try it.

Got a growler of this over the holidays and shared with friends.

A- Pours slightly hazy darker gold color. Fluffy white head that slowly dissipates down to a cap. Nice lacing on the glass.

S- Wow, this does remind you of an apple pie, just like I had heard. Very sweet smelling with some spice to it, mostly cinnamon to it.

T- Not as much apple taste as the nose led to believe. Good mix of spices along with a sweet taste to it. A little doughy taste at the end. Faint apple, fruit flavor at the end as well. Still very good flavors.

M- Lighter body with nice carbonation.

O- Very interesting drink. Great holiday drink to share with friends. We all enjoyed the beer as it was different than your average beers. Glad we got one of these.

grabbed at the brewery a week or so ago.

poured cold from the growler to a tall flared pilsner glass a slightly hazy golden hued yelllow with a short lasting full finger white head with little retention.

aroma of, you guessed it, cinnamon and apple pie and not "kind of like" apple pie, but close your eyes and you'll be grabbing a fork and asking for a dip of vanilla ice cream.

cinnamon way up in front, followed by just slightly tart crab apples and brown sugar sprinkled over flaky pie crust. what a treat. refreshing, tart and sweet at the same time.

high carbonation, light bodied, tart, followed by sweet.

drinkable = yes.

Poured a decently deep golden color with some very nice head, and little lacing. Excellent deep wheat malt aromas, bit of hay and wonderful hints of apple sweetness in it. Great flavors, with a nice bit of hop spiciness underneath a wonderful deep wheat flavor and a great sweet apple flavor that sweetens everything just the right amount. Goes down very smooth and easy.

I have generally liked the beer from Sun King. By far, this is the most disappointing. Poured from the growler, the beer has a straw color with a finger head. The apple aroma was present, but one had to strain to detect it.

The initial taste made me think the beer was somehow watered down. Not only was there not much of an apple flavor, but the beer flavor was hard to detect. Witbier is generally flavorful and sweet. The absence of these characteristics makes this beer all the more disappointing.

The description of the beer states that the beer intended to tempt memories of homemade apple pie. Instead, I thought of some of the better beers with apple such as New Glarus Apple Ale.

A – Pale light translucent yellow. It’s a bit hazy.

S - I wanted to smell apple pie… wasn’t what I got.

T - Tart from the crabapple, and even though the cinnamon is present, it’s very faint.

M – Light body with a high amount of carbonation.

O – I admire the outside the box thought process, but this was just okay. I wanted to like it and buy a growler, but it was not worth my money.
