I like to imagine this beer as Wee Mac on steroids (the good kind of steroids, that is). While I've admittedly only had Java Mac from Sun King, I was so underwhelmed by the experience that I resigned to not even try the base-beer from which its coffee variant was derived. That aside, Wee Muckle is the cat's pajamas. The flavor is all-malt, which is foreshadowed by it's deep-dark color. While sweeter than other Scotch Ales, I feel that is perhaps part of its allure, as it goes down smooth and begs the palate for another sip.

A - Dark brown, almost black, color, some transparency, but the body is so dark it is hard to see. The head forms a light tan, but fades quickly.
S - A mild nose, mostly of dark fruits, cherries and plums, candy and sugar, a hint of molasses, dark bread.
T - The primary note is a definite cherry hit, but with warmth the fruit elements open, introducing plums and raisins. There is a hint of almond flavoring, a bit of dark chocolate. Dark, slightly spicy bread is present in the middle. The close is acidic, with almost cola like spikiness along with the more sour elements of a cherry.
M - Sticky, but surprisingly light. The close is sufficient to clear the palate, despite the definite sweetness overall.
O - Well executed, but with flavor notes that are not in my wheelhouse. As such, though I can recognize the solidly built quality and complexity and depth, I do not think this is one I'd seek out again.
