This stout pours dark and opaque, black in the center of the glass with traces of ruby/dark tan around the edges. It has a nice thin, creamy head, which disappears all too soon.
The aroma is quite good -- roasted coffee dominates, and the oatmeal lends hints of baked bread to the scent.
The beer starts with a slight taste of hops and soon transforms into a deep, full flavor. The overall malty oatmeal taste is balanced -- just balanced -- by the taste of hop resins. The finish is sweet, with caramel lingering along the edges and back of the tongue.

Black color. Small head. Aroma is chocolate. Roasted malts, smooth and full bodied. Oatmeal character is very evident. Very smooth chocolate like flavor. Mouthfeel is full and round. Smooth taste. Finish is smooth and clean. Aftertaste is roasted malt, chocolate like.

This beer sits in my glass with a frothy creamy tan head that sits atop a black beer. The aroma is smooth and roasty with notes of chocolate and coffee. The body is fairly light and easy drinking, but it definitely has that oily thickness from the 10% oat addition. Up front this has nice notes of chocolate and is lightly malty sweet. This finishes with a solid bitterness that, though it is higher than typical, is a nice balance to the smooth creaminess up front.
