Had on tap at the brewery. Review from notes.
A: Served in a goblet, the sister was a hazy golden orange with one finger of white head on top.
S: Lots of citrus/tropical fruit. Some grass, melon, grapefruit, lemon, and a little pine.
T: Similar to the aroma with plenty of tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange, orange zest, melon, and a slightly piney finish.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Hint of alcohol on the finish as it warms.
O: A really nice DIPA from Fremont, hopefully they will start to make it more often.

on-tap at the brewery
appearance: served in an unbranded chalice, bright pale-orange body, light beige film
smell: grapefruit, lemon zest, herbal, spicy notes
taste: Brewed with calypso and bravo hops - 2 varietals I'm not overly familiar with. Spicy and earthy - bitter grapefruit rind, moderate alcohol notes, sweet malt. Interesting - think I like The Brother better though
mouthfeel: medium, thick oily body

a: small chalice serving, light amber in color, nicely retained off-white head
s: pale malts structure with a light-moderate dose of caramel sugars, the hops really shine - mostly tropical with a dose of fresh, young evergreen - tangerine, pine, grapefruit, and passionfruit included, sweet and juicy...
m: carbonation light-moderate, light-medium body
t: cleaner pale malts comprise the bulk of the body with a light dosing of more complex sugars, big fruit hops - a combo of tangerine, grapefruit bitterness, young pine, pineapple - richly hopped, bitterness big, balancing without overpowering, quite enjoyable
o: a high-quality dipa that tends more towards the hop side with only a balance of malts, my favored kind

Opened a growler last night, thanks to bfg75 for the trade.
Poured into a Chimay chalice, it's a nice clear light golden color with an inch of white foamy head. Lots of lace as glass is emptied.
Smells like a DIPA, hops and more hops, citrus (grapefruit), pine and a little grass. Not as floral as say, PtE, more like Duet.
This tastes like it smells, very hoppy, like a DIPA should, tart, subtle fruit on the finish. Citrus and pine dominate.
Medium mouthfeel, not oily or thick, very nice for style, carbonation was good, considering the distance it came.
Overall I would rate this a 3.75 only because I'm sure it would be better straight from the tap.
When you live in San Diego, it's hard to be impressed by IPA/DIPA's, but this one is above average for sure.

I picked up a growler on 11.30.12 from the Brewery.
A - Pours a slightly hazy, light orange with a small near-white head that moves to the edges.
S - Hoppy lemon, candy, pine and tangerine.
T - Same as the nose, lemon, tangerine, candy with a pine bitter finish.
D - Lower carbonation with a lighter body.
O - Orange and lemony sweet with a solid pine bitter finish.

I had a goblet of The Sister at the UBG on May 31, 2013 and another later that night, from a fresh growler fill, at a pal's house.
Appearance: The Sister pours orange/amber with lots of fluffy white foam and very good lacing.
Aroma: The aroma is probably the best single aspect of the beer. The nose is wet wood, citrus, tropical fruits, and aggressive pine. There is also a sweet smelling malt element present behind the hops at all times.
Taste: The taste is similar to the aroma but very heavy on the pine and bitterness. There is a slight roughness to the bitterness but the finish is very crisp.
Mouthfeel: The Sister is well carbonated. It is definitely more astringent and boozey than I'd expected.
Overall: This is a very good imperial IPA. I think The Brother is much better.
