Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a light orange, decent head and some nice lacing on the glass.

Smell: Very promising smell of citrus and pine. Some sweet malts as well.

Taste: Much more subtle than the smell. Slight hoppy bitterness balanced very well with the malt backbone. Not bad at all.

Mouthfeel: It is pretty thin and watery, little carbonation.

Overall: Very easy to drink at 4%, no heat at all. The taste doesn't live up to the aroma. If you are looking for a hoppy west coast ipa skip this one. If you are looking for a decent, easily drinkable ipa this is your beer.

Thanks to Paul for grabbing this one.

A: Pours a clear orange color with a one finger white head on top, rather soapy, with great retention. Thin lacing forms down the sides randomly.

S: A nice burst of orange right up front, a bit of rind as well. Some grainy malt and faint caramel mixed in.

T: Similar to the aroma with some citrus upfront, again mostly orange, with some grainy malt mixed in. Light sweetness on the finish.

M: Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Rather easy drinking.

O: A nice IPA, props to Fremont for making it 4% and officially a session beer. Glad it is available in cans, will be an easy go to beer to keep on hand.

Growler filled at the brewery. Poured into straight pint glasses on January 28th, 2012.

A: The beer pours an extremely light yellow color. Super clear and reminiscent of the "fizzy yellow beers" that we are so quick to dismiss. There was a small head of white foam that dissipated quickly. Little to no lacing present.

S: Not a lot going on in the nose. A bit of malt, honey and caramel and just faintest touch of hops.

T: There are some grainy flavors alongside banana Laffy Taffy and a soapy flavor that I'm assuming are the hops. No real bitterness to this brew.

M: Medium carbonation and body, pretty light but slightly oily. Very reminiscent of American adjuncts. You'd never guess there was alcohol in this.

O: I get what Fremont is doing here. As a tribute to Olympia and Rainier from the good ol' days, this is a nice beer for a hot summer day. As a session IPA, however, it's a bit of a failure. I know that Session IPAs are the new hotness, but Fremont should think about re-styling this guy.

Chill 22oz bottle served in pint glass. Beer is a super pale straw yellow color, almost crystal clear, with a thick white foam. Big bubbles. HUGE green hop aroma. Very fresh smelling. First sip is sharp with unrefined hop bitterness. Citrusy and piney. Not overpowering on the IBUs (update: label says 60), but doesn't hold back on those that are there. Grain bill is pretty non-descript, just barely enough to bring the beer through. I'm surprised this is only 4% though. Definitely easy to drink if not quite as "sessionable" due to palate burnout typical of any American IPA. Very resiny and lacey, BTW.

22oz bomber, split, paired with some thai take-out

appearance: served in a shaker pint, pale straw-golden body, 1/3" foamy white head, light lace

smell: grassy hops, pilsner malt, honey

taste: I like the idea here - a 4% IPA in a market full of 7% IPA's. There's more bitterness than anticipated - crisp and hoppy, a touch of honey, dry bread, nice biscuity malt. Nice stuff - would like to see it in cans once Fremont gets that up and running.

mouthfeel: light, moderate bitterness

overall: maybe the best 4% IPA on the market, probably the only.

A: yellow-orange. Thin head. Lacing disappears faily quickly.
S: faint floral. Not a big aroma.
T: dry. Mild malt characteristic. Crisp. Mellow citrus and pine? On the hop flavor. Slightly bitter on the aftertaste.
O: lives up to its name of a session IPA. Mellow all the way around. Great drinking. Good gateway IPA.

Poured into a Black Raven imperial pint glass. Pours a light golden straw color. Thin but persistant head, and a thick ring around the glass with a hint of lacing. Mild aroma of herbal hops, a hint of pineapple and sweet malt. Initial flavor is mild hops, but other flavors develop in the middle; biscuit malt a hint of fruit and walnuts. Finishes with a nice fresh hop kick, but the finish is a bit stark and left me wishing for a bit more malt body to support the hops. Light to medium bodied. Somewhat thin and mild flavored for an American IPA (except for the hops, which are nicely assertive), but I have to admit that this is the best flavored 4% beer I think I have ever tasted. From that standpoint, an excellently made, enjoyable light IPA.

Thanks to HeyCurly3 for this one! Poured into Stone IPA stemware.

A - yellow-ish, light golden color with thin white head that faded to a bubbling ring; some spotty lacing

S - fresh green hops, grass, floral note(maybe wisteria), some bready malt toward end

T - somewhat dry and mildly bitter hops followed by bisquit, toast, bread malts

M - thin body; light carbonation; long, dry finish that is slightly coating

O - a little thin but it is supposed to be a session beer; overall profile tastes like a dry-hopped pilsner; nice bread-y finish; it is very drinkable indeed
