Notes/Commercial Description:
A tiny beautiful something showcases a new hop variety, El Dorado. We started playing around with this hop last year. We brewed a pilot batch with this hop exclusively and one with it blended with some of our other favorite Northwest varieties. In the end, we decided that the El Dorado had such a unique and interesting character on its own, so we decided to brew it as a “single hop” pale ale. The aroma and flavor offer intense candied orange and citrus zest. A touch of flaked oats provide a rounded, silky mouthfeel. And like our other hoppy offerings, tiny was brewed to finish dry and clean.

06/10/14 bottling date, almost a month old.

A: Pours a slightly hazy amber with a tall, fizzy and frothy offwhite head. Head fades slowly and leaves a nice island behind with lots of fluffy tendrils of lacing. Good retention.

S: That is a nice hit of citrus. Orange peel? Reminds me of Fast Orange (the hand cleaner). Lots of sweet orange in there too. Honestly it's not far from orange juice itself. Juicy as hell.

T: More of the same. Bitter orange peel followed by awesome juicy orange flesh. Pretty remarkable. I had to check to make sure there weren't seeds in the glass too. Crisp, dry bready malt, just a little. Drying bitter orange peel in the aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied, quite dry.

O: Orange juice APA? Very unique single hop. Clean, refreshing and tasty, I really enjoyed this simple yet flavorful brew.

Drank two of these, sorry Wil one was meant for you...

Pale gold with frothy white foam that leaves plentiful lacing in the glass. Bright clarity and lasting head retention.

Aroma is the strong suit, aromatic and fruity, indistinct citrus and passionfruit.

Taste was less intense with more pale malt flavor coming through and an orange peel citrus flavor lending some bitterness in the aftertaste. Body was on the lighter side of things, easily drinkable but not all that substantial. Overall it was good but I'd prefer most other Maine APA/IPA's to this one. Still it's worth a try if you find a fresh one.

Poured from a bottle into a glass. Moderate lacing, foam around the edges, some mapping of bubbles on top. Hazy.

Smell- fresh, fruity, very pleasant. Like the smell of the first few days of spring. Do I smell carmel too, or am I nuts?

Taste- Immediately fruity- grapefruit and orange peel with a moderate after taste of wheat. Very bright and uplifting taste. This would be a grade A beer to drink after doing yard work on a hot day. I don't think my taste buds are crazy, but I feel like there is some sort of vegetable related or plant like aftertaste?

Mouthfeel- very crisp and well carbonated.

Overall- Very surprised by how tasty this beer is. I haven't found myself motivated enough from many beers to type a review, but this one definitely stands out. Pleasantly fruity, but not super fruity or sweet. A perfect balance of different flavors and textures.
