Notes/Commercial Description:
A tiny beautiful something showcases a new hop variety, El Dorado. We started playing around with this hop last year. We brewed a pilot batch with this hop exclusively and one with it blended with some of our other favorite Northwest varieties. In the end, we decided that the El Dorado had such a unique and interesting character on its own, so we decided to brew it as a “single hop” pale ale. The aroma and flavor offer intense candied orange and citrus zest. A touch of flaked oats provide a rounded, silky mouthfeel. And like our other hoppy offerings, tiny was brewed to finish dry and clean.

500ml bottle into a red wine glass. Bottled 4/10/14 (ie 8 days ago).

Appearance: Hazy, glowing yellow orange that makes me want to drink a hoppy pale ale. Long lasting frothy white head, good lacing.

Smell: Hoho, El Dorado is a nice smelling hop. Definitely get the candied orange and stone fruit elements. Really soft and enticing. With warmth, anise tones emerge. Flowers, sweet orange, peach, anise. Great.

Taste: The exact hop notes from the nose, with a bone dry finish. Not much malt character, just crisp and dry. Perfectly refreshing, and really well put together: soft, citrusy, slightly floral hops up front, with the anise-spicy notes complimenting the dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Light side of medium bodied. Flaked oats definitely give a slight creaminess up front, but extreme dryness and rather high carbonation keep things perfectly refreshing. Best part of a great beer.

Overall: Excellent American pale ale. I think some higher magnitude hops would take it over the top and make it world class, but if this is a complaint, it's a halfhearted one. Very satisfying beer. If you see it fresh, pull the trigger and spend a relaxing night with a unique, beautifully put together hoppy pale ale.

Poured from a bottle into a glass. Moderate lacing, foam around the edges, some mapping of bubbles on top. Hazy.

Smell- fresh, fruity, very pleasant. Like the smell of the first few days of spring. Do I smell carmel too, or am I nuts?

Taste- Immediately fruity- grapefruit and orange peel with a moderate after taste of wheat. Very bright and uplifting taste. This would be a grade A beer to drink after doing yard work on a hot day. I don't think my taste buds are crazy, but I feel like there is some sort of vegetable related or plant like aftertaste?

Mouthfeel- very crisp and well carbonated.

Overall- Very surprised by how tasty this beer is. I haven't found myself motivated enough from many beers to type a review, but this one definitely stands out. Pleasantly fruity, but not super fruity or sweet. A perfect balance of different flavors and textures.
