A- Pours a very slightly hazed golden-orange color with a frothy white head. Head has pretty good retention and leaves behind nice layered lacing.

S- Picking up tropical fruit hops. A good malt back bone of bread and sweet malts. A good amount of spice too from the yeast.

T- Fairly complex with quite a bit going on here. A good amout of tropical hops followed up by sweet malts. A fair amount of bitterness, a touch of yeast and quite a bit of pepper. Maybe a bit too much on the spice for my liking.

M- Lighter side of medium in body and good amount of carbonation.

O- Again quite complex fairly. Fairly easy to drink.

Maine Peeper, on tap at Pony Bar, NYC,

Appearance: Served in their 8-oz glass, Pepper comes with a one-finger white-as-Jesus head that lasts. Pale-yellow color, like a saison or even a light beer. Great lacing.

Smell: Very muted, with fresh lemon, grass. A valkyrie sauntering in the fields of Norway, spring morning. Some wine-like acidity/sourness. Cleaning product, pine.

Taste: Similarly fresh, with more open air, lemon zest and washed-out citrus. Bone-dry at the end with a touch of tingly hops. Refreshing but unremarkable. I don't get any of that "biscuit-y maltiness" others write about.

Mouthfeel: Light, slightly weak. Lemony, sparkly, like a soda. Medium feel and body, carbonation on the high side, adequate for this brew.

Overall: Perfectly average for sure. A drinkable, light APA, but not one I would seek out again.

a great sessionable pale ale that would have even a anti-hopper excited... had this on tap at Pony Bar in NYC and this is an absolute must have. worthy of seeking out on tap. up front it has a citrusy bite to it, peaks to a creamy mouthfeel (which is not unlike Pliny) and finishes sweet but not crazy sweet. not the most balanced pale ale but if you enjoy your hops it's a real joy to drink. love Maine's stuff, can't wait to have more from them. EAST COAST PA'S ALL DAY BABY!

A super fresh bottle into a clean ass glass. 16oz in and this beer looks delish.

Coming out of the bottle, Peeper looks the color of a Berliner weisse appearing whitish/golden. Gliding in the glass a dirty looking amberish orange that cleans up when the whole bottle is poured, leaving a dirty bronze color, and white foam all around the glass. Smell is very fresh (20 days old) with bright citrusy hops with some faint pine and some sweet backing malt, but not much. A very pleasant smeller. Taste is str8 up pale ale with big citrus taste and a light body, Pale is the word. feel is light as mentioned, with a nice hop bite that comes and goes. At 5.5%, if this came in 6 packs this would be a no brainer.

Light amber color with a nice frothy mouth feel.

The smell was a delicious lemon hops.

I was disappointed by the finish- too much hoppy bitterness. It seemed out of character with the appearance and smell.

As the beer warmed, the bitterness was no longer present. Perhaps, the beer was too cold initially. But the hoppiness of the finish was not in balance with character of the beer.

Overall, worth trying on the warm side.

At Great Lost Bear (Portland, ME):

In a pint glass:

A: clear light golden colored body with a decent amount of carbonation heading towards the top. The lacing was spotty and ringy. When the bartender gave the beer to me, there wasn't any head whatsoever

S: mainly citrus backed up by some pine. The hops are pretty balanced throughout

T: pine and citrus hops, slight bit of a grassiness

M: light to medium, sessionable, crisp, sweet clean aftertaste and finish, slightly watery at times but at other times moderate amount of harshness is felt, weird but no complaints, complex? - yes

O: an excellent choice of a beer, good for style and good for me, however this could be close to an AIPA
