Poured from a 500mL brown bottle into a Duvel tulip. Bottled on 090112 stamped on label. Purchased at WIne Warehouse (Charlottesville, VA) for $5.99.

A: Clean, barely hazy lemon yellow with a tower 3-finger, frothy ivory head with exceptional retention and copious crusty lacing. A beautiful beer in the glass.

S: Light grassy and lemon and orange citrus hoppiness with crackery light maltiness. A little light overall but nothing wrong with the aroma.

T: A very subtle and dry type of APA overall. The hoppiness is substantial but understated with lemon and orange citrus meeting herbal grassy flavors as wel. The crackery light maltiness is more than supportive and provides a nice counterpoint to the crisp hoppiness. The bitterness is moderate. There is a soft yeast ester as the beer warms.

M: Very crisp and refreshing with a very dry finish for the style. The carbonation is more active which adds to the quenching quality.

O: I enjoyed this brew and it definitely fits the "dry" type of APA with complex but subtle combination of hops and malt flavors.

Beer pours a clear golden with a white foamy head. Great scent of white pepper and American hops. A very lively scent.

Beer tastes similar to the scent with a well thought out progression of flavor. Starts with a bready malt, it quickly gives way to a hoppy flavor that doesn't slam your taste buds. The hops begin with a grapefruit flavor and gives way to a spicy piny sharp finish. Medium bodied mouthfeel and all around fantastic beer. Great east coast version of a widely available style.

Poured into a wine glass with the yeast. Golden yellow with a solid head. Some lacing on the glass mouthfeel is excellent - fine carbonation and a bit of a jazzy pop on the tongue. Smell is citrusy, grass, spices and some pine. Citrus is forward on the flavor with other spices and the mild flavor hops. Little malt presence.
