Notes/Commercial Description:
Our take on an American amber ale. Complex malt bill delivers notes of dark raisin, chocolate and biscuit. Copious additions of American hops yield notes of pine and citrus.

One of the best reds I've had. While a bit hoppy, especially in the nose, the taste is just superb and easy to drink. So much more complexity than most other amber ales, with hints of raspberries, grapefruit, and just the right amount of hops (less noticeable in taste than aroma, which is good for me). The breadiness makes it so much more interesting than most in this style. Also, it has a beautiful dark amber color with gorgeous foamy, bubbly head. Recommended.

$7.99 for 25oz. Poured into a chalice. Bottled on 6/4/13. Approximately 1.5 months old when this review was written.

A great amber. An above average IPA.

A – Pours a dark amber, almost brown in color, clear, huge 3-finger rocky light tan head. Excellent lacing.

S – Sweet grapefruit, with some spiciness.

T – A malty backbone is evident but not so excessive that it hides the hoppiness of this beer. A slight sweetness. Resinous, somewhat herbal bitterness kicks in halfway through the taste. Some faint dark fruit/raisin. I could detect no chocolate as the brewer suggests.

MF – Well carbonated, medium bodied. Starts smooth and finishes dry with a lasting bitterness.

A- Dark brown, mahogany or chestnut maybe. Large creamy head from the bottle conditioning. About 2 fingers. Lacing that holds like no other. Best looking amber I have seen.
I don't care to comment much on appearance of the bottles, but I love these from Maine Beer. Simple and classy.

S- Dank pine hops. Caramel and honey. Fresh baked biscuits with a touch of dark fruit. An intense nose.

T- Follows nose well. Some initial hop presence followed by the biscuit malt bill. Hops then taking over again from there. Hops galore! A little bite on the end with a layer of toasted, nutty finish. Some bitterness.

M- Super dry. Mid body. No booze or alcohol warmth but you know it's there. Carbonation is a little strong for the style, but I prefer it. Makes for an easy drink

O- It's not a style that I have had much luck finding a beer I am in love with yet, but I think I've finally found it. A hoppier take on an Amber. Enjoyed in the heat of an Oklahoma July, but I have to believe this would make for a fantastic fall beer.

16 oz bottle ($6.99) born on 7/9/13.

A: Ruddy, muddy. You could tell me Zoe was a porter and I'd believe it. Head retention way above average and lacing is huge, huge, huge.

S: Some caramel, but mostly citrus hops. Also something roasty lurking, probably from toasted malt.

T: Citrus flavor lead nice and bright at the front, especially huge, beautiful grapefruit. This slowly evolves into the back end, which features more a dank, earthy taste that isn't quite my thing, but it's a neat process and a fabulously executed beer.

M: Nice. Quite drying, as all MBC beers seem to be.

O: Completely distinct hop effects from Lunch, Peeper, or MO, and once again at or near the top of its style class. More impeccable execution by MBC.
