Style | ABV
American Amber / Red Ale |  7.20% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our take on an American amber ale. Complex malt bill delivers notes of dark raisin, chocolate and biscuit. Copious additions of American hops yield notes of pine and citrus.

Chilled, served in a tulip glass

A - pours a deep amber/brown, quite dark, lots of soft light brown head with good retention

S - citrus hops, complex malts - crackers and some raisin

T - good mix of hops up front with a solid malty, fruity backbone, follows the nose

M - very smooth, super drinkable

O - I will definitely seek this out again. Great first offering I've had from Maine Beer Co

A- Beautiful pillowy head that refuses to go away sits atop a perfect brownish amber ale. Remarkably unable to see through this ale, minimal effervescence with the exception of the exquisite foam at the top.

S- I'm getting some caramel to go along with citrus notes. Really nice yeasty bread notes as well.

T- This ale makes you want to chug a 7.2% ABV and go looking for more. This is smooth and there is no astringency whatsoever. All of the smell is present in the taste in perfect proportions.

M- Love this mouthfeel because of how smooth it is. Perfect balance between sweet and bitter keeps sending you back for another sip.

O- This is my first Maine Beer Company beer and it certainly won't be my last. I didn't get a hold of this until 3 months after it's brew date and it's still one of the best ales I've had. I was told that "Lunch" IPA is even better, if that's the case I will be amazed.

A: Deep, dark amber, almost brown. Fairly hazy. Nice light tan creamy head. Looks good.
S: Nice fresh grapefruity, floral aroma. Some light orange too. A bit dank. Not much in the way of malt through the aroma, but I'm guessing I will get it in the flavor.
T: Mostly grapefruit, orange, dank hops. The body is actually fairly light and the malt character is very light. APA-IPA level bitterness, not overwhelming though. This is really a darker IPA; if it was lighter it would definitely be an IPA. Still, it's tasty, nice fresh hop aroma and flavor, definitely some dankness. I would have preferred a bit of malt to round this out.
M: Mouthfeel should be a bit higher on this, it's fairly dry, medium-light mouthfeel. The carbonation is nice.
O: Solid beer, really just a slightly darker IPA though. I would have liked to taste more of the specialty malts used in this beer. I'd recommend to hop heads for sure though.

Another huge box full of a little of everything, from "Moby do you even whælz bruh", to long time wants, to obscure locals showed up from wordemupg yesterday. Guy turns a one bottle trade into a porch crushing showdown, hey? Touché my friend, touché.

Poured into one of those trusty ol' Bruery tulips.

Appearance. Pours a very dark and rich brown with some deep redish burnt-orange coming through when held to the light. This is topped with 1.5 fingers of really creamy smooth, pale khaki-caramel head that falls very, very slowly and doesn't entirely disappear before the glass is done and covered in awesome heavy lace.

Smell. Sticky piney hops with the lightest cocoa dusting, There's some grapefruit rind and a touch of lemon zest and a bit of caramel underneath everything. Yep, so far so good.

Taste. Those big, oily piney hops are definetly there, grapefruit rinds and flesh as well. Then that light cocoa ...yeah this pretty much follows the smell. That's a good thing. Getting some sweet ripe pineapple as well which wasn't in the nose for me. Long lingering oily grapefruit rind bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, below medium amount of smooth carbonation.

Overall. Surprisingly delicious beer here. The last time I enjoyed something of this type so much was the VCBW cascadian dark from years back. Thanks wordemupg!
