Our American-style stout aged on organic vanilla beans. Intense notes of coffee and dark chocolate lead way to subtle notes of natural vanilla. Flaked oats generate a silky mouthfeel.

eyes...
oh so chocolate head rises up around 2 fingers on even the gentle pour, settles down in relatively quick fashion melting into barely an o-ring, lacing retains the dark chocolate color and some legs are shown mixed in, nearly pitch but not quite night, some light can venture through but it is a weary traveler indeed, neat columns of bubbles shuffle their way to the top in sheer columns as if guided by some unseen force (beer karma ? ... who knows?). Yes sir, this looks like a stout, nothing more, not a lout.

nose...
woodsy, deep vanilla notes with barbs of bitter chocolate, fresh roasted coffee with a dollop of cream, hints of sugar that lean molasses, delicious, chewable like a candy bar, totally inviting

taste etc...
carbonation illiterate? surprisingly under carbonated, slightly light in the mouth akin in weight to guiness or that ilk, good roasted flavors on the tongue with a slick vanilla aftertaste, it is all so sudden though, the flavors do not stick around long enough and the body is a bit weak, this beer smells so damn terrific I was expecting the same in the flavor... but alas, she is disappointing... to really get the most out of this I have to press my tongue up against the roof of my mouth and squeeze out the tones, and then I get a bit more bitter chocolate and lingering vanilla... so definitely drink this specifically so to get more out of it

verdict?
a near miss, something about the body rubs me the wrong way, it is smooth and has some fantastic characteristics but falls a bit short for me, maybe this needs to be had even sooner than the 90 days stated on the label ? that is a question for you to ponder my fellow beer pioneers... (1,703 characters)

Pours nearly jet black except for a tinge of ruby when held right up to the light,a creamy beige head atop that left a broken ring of lace behind.Vanilla and more vanilla in the nose, some dark roast comes into play as well as some chocolate but the vanilla wins out. It's roasted on the palate but I love the vanilla warming flavors,it's not overly sweet with a nice somewhat drying earthy finish. This beer is underrated in my opinion,it's warming with a nice vanilla flavor that isn't overly done,a great beer. (510 characters)

Batch #1
500ml bottle poured into a mug.
This beer was a very dark brown, nearly black color. A hint of red when held up to a light.
Medium-sized tan head and a little bit of lace.
Strong roasted malt aroma up front, followed by some sweet chocolate. A little bit of vanilla tucked in there.
Tasted like espresso with a shot of chocolate. I think I lost the vanilla.
A bit on the thin side.
Nice enough. (403 characters)

Purchased on recent trip to PHL. 056312 G stamped on side of label I think- the "6" is smudged. Could be a 0 or 8.
Poured murkey yeasty brown into my Deschutes tulip. Minimal head very thin layer of small bubbles cling to edge. Nothing much else.
Aroma very pleasant. Smooth softness of vanilla foretells the taste which is again smooth, velvety, full of vanilla notes.
Warm nice feeling lingers.
A very enjoyable stout. Too bad I brought back only one. (453 characters)

The head is very full forms more then 2 finger very thick and tan. The beer is dark and only on the pour could you see the dark amber color. The head hugs the glass very nice one of the best heads I've seen in a bottle

Big nose on this beer it whafted to my nose while I was pouring it. There is a lot of aromas coffee with roasted malts and a mellow vanilla that works perfect together

To start this is a dry stout not an imperial or big stout wit that said this is a great beer. The beer starts slightly sweet. A roasted nutty flavor enters. The nutty coffee taste is very pleasent. A slight hop enters with a very hint of vanilla in the aftertaste. Its a big dry finish.

For a stout this great I'm astonished how they were able to have the taste and aroma differ but have it go together (795 characters)

Pours a nice opaque black with some tan head and a nice medium collar. Good lacing out of this one. Aroma is really deep roasted malt, some faint coffee, and earthy too. Taste is where the vanilla comes out. Vanilla up front, char and roasted malt in the middle, then fades into a sweet dark caramel. Nice thick body and low carbonation. Very good but the whole time I felt there was just something off-putting. (411 characters)

Typical MBC mid sized bottle

Pours very dark, looks like a stout should. Dark mocha head, leaves a very fine bubble film, respectable lacing and thicker collar.

Dark malts and the advertized vanilla on the nose.

Super smooth in the mouth and super tasty on the palate. More vanilla, mellow dark malts. Quite tasty, a very nice treat (337 characters)
