oh so chocolate head rises up around 2 fingers on even the gentle pour, settles down in relatively quick fashion melting into barely an o-ring, lacing retains the dark chocolate color and some legs are shown mixed in, nearly pitch but not quite night, some light can venture through but it is a weary traveler indeed, neat columns of bubbles shuffle their way to the top in sheer columns as if guided by some unseen force (beer karma ? ... who knows?). Yes sir, this looks like a stout, nothing more, not a lout.
woodsy, deep vanilla notes with barbs of bitter chocolate, fresh roasted coffee with a dollop of cream, hints of sugar that lean molasses, delicious, chewable like a candy bar, totally inviting
carbonation illiterate? surprisingly under carbonated, slightly light in the mouth akin in weight to guiness or that ilk, good roasted flavors on the tongue with a slick vanilla aftertaste, it is all so sudden though, the flavors do not stick around long enough and the body is a bit weak, this beer smells so damn terrific I was expecting the same in the flavor... but alas, she is disappointing... to really get the most out of this I have to press my tongue up against the roof of my mouth and squeeze out the tones, and then I get a bit more bitter chocolate and lingering vanilla... so definitely drink this specifically so to get more out of it
a near miss, something about the body rubs me the wrong way, it is smooth and has some fantastic characteristics but falls a bit short for me, maybe this needs to be had even sooner than the 90 days stated on the label ? that is a question for you to ponder my fellow beer pioneers...

Poured from the bottle into a MBC ale glass
A: Black as night. Nice edges that resonate light brown/tan. Lacing is minimal. A swirl bring some carbo back to brew. No legs to speak of.
S: Deep black chocolate notes with that vanilla that is touted. Huge roasted notes. Surprisingly, there's some neo-hop notes coming though on the back of this.
T: very balanced for how sweet and hoppy this is trying to be, I have another, I may age it a year and see if the hoppy notes secede. Yeast is mild and some toffee presents, may be yeast notes trying to push it out.
M: Smooth. Roasty like coffee. Not overly full, but not thin. Middle on feel. Malts definitely dominate ultimate out breath.
O: Me likey. May be my favorite flavored stout due to mouthfeel and not overtly chewy malty notes.
