Our American-style stout aged on organic vanilla beans. Intense notes of coffee and dark chocolate lead way to subtle notes of natural vanilla. Flaked oats generate a silky mouthfeel.

Bottle dated 7/2/13 poured on 12/27/13. Shared with Dad. Says drink within 90 days but whatever. Dark brown to black pour with a light brown creamy half finger head. Aroma of huge roast and light vanilla, some smoke, semisweet chocolate. Flavor follows the smell with big roast and semisweet chocolate, light vanilla, and lingering bitter roast lingers. Medium carbonation and light medium body. This comes off as a porter rather than a stout and with that expectation is very nice. Recommended for lighter stout fare for sure.

Black pour with a light head. It looks like a stout because it is a stout.

This beer smells like genuine vanilla...not extract. It doesn't smell like a milkshake, just...real.

The vanilla flavor is there, but it's almost like it's hiding in the shadows. Overall the flavor is a little boring. Not bad. Not even not good. Just not quite the expression I would have expected from Maine Beer Company.

Wait, I take that back. I compared their King Titus porter to a perfect family sedan.

On the flipside, it's very well balanced. This is a good beer, but my palate needs something a little more exciting.

From the 650 ml. bottle dated 12/10/13. Sampled on December 21, 20-13 so this bottle is pretty fresh.

The pour is a deep dark black color with no brown or glistening reddish hues in sight. It really is black with a long lasting and soft feeling tan head.

The aroma is delightful with its full dark malt, dark chocolate, vanilla bean, and vague fruit character. The hops are downplayed.

A highly creamy and smooth body that falls into the medium to bold range.

The taste is much like the aroma with less emphasis on the vanilla beans and more so on the baked dark chocolate. The slightest touch of dry bitterness on the backside. Very nice beer.
