Our “East Coast” version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

Pours a hazy orange to copper body with straw like hues beneath the cram colored head which is ne of the more resistant I've seen as it hangs around for the duration of the beer.

Pungent hop aromas of citrus such as orange and grapefruit as well as pine and straw waft from the glass. The heartiness to the aroma hints of malt, a touch of bread and grain and a touch sweet.

The flavor is equally delightful with more funky grass and straw hops as well as sweet citrus with an even more pronounced malt presence which is grainy and bread like and possibly features a touch of toffee.

A rather chewy mouthfeel for an IPA with medium carbonation and a big pungent, and chewy finish.

A great IPA with tons of character and a delight to the senses.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #55 (August 2011):

Slow pour still produces a sizable head; dull amber glow sans sediment. Fresh clementines, nectarines, strawberry taffy, toasted bread, nutty yeast and fresh-cut grass in the nose. Rustic, smooth yet bitty mouthfeel—a beer of sub- stance. Tame bitterness, though the flavor flogs the taste buds for a while. Nice hop bite with citric and herbal flavors, and some spice in the middle as the dry maltiness tries to rise above. Apple and pear fruitiness, warming alcohol and graininess try to stave off the hop flavor, but it just keeps pushing along. Pretty amazing brew, bringing back some clout for the true East Coast IPAs.

Lot 051811 on the label.
A slightly hazy amber color with a voluminous white head, even with a careful pour. Lots of sticky lace.
Citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Good sweet malt background.
Tropical fruit taste, very sweet. Grapefruit leading to a little bit of piney hops that I hadn't detected in the aroma. Bread.
This was a very well-balanced IPA. Will pick up more of these.
