Notes/Commercial Description:
Our “East Coast” version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into an unbranded willi becker pint glass

Pours a deep gold orange with some amber accents topped by a two and a half finger slightly off white fluffy, creamy white head. Fantastic retention with thick lacing that coat the glass all the way down. Mandarin orange, herbal notes including green tea and fresh cut grass, citrus blossom notes, some breadiness and grain. Starts with citrus and fruit notes, mandarin orange, kumquats, nectarines, fresh green tea, light floral notes. Some breadiness and grains midpalate and semisweet malt. Finishes semi dry with mildly bitter citrus rind and just a very light touch of caramel. Smooth, slick, silky mouthfeel with a hint of creaminess. Wonderful! Lunch lives up to the acclaim for sure. A superb American IPA.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #55 (August 2011):

Slow pour still produces a sizable head; dull amber glow sans sediment. Fresh clementines, nectarines, strawberry taffy, toasted bread, nutty yeast and fresh-cut grass in the nose. Rustic, smooth yet bitty mouthfeel—a beer of sub- stance. Tame bitterness, though the flavor flogs the taste buds for a while. Nice hop bite with citric and herbal flavors, and some spice in the middle as the dry maltiness tries to rise above. Apple and pear fruitiness, warming alcohol and graininess try to stave off the hop flavor, but it just keeps pushing along. Pretty amazing brew, bringing back some clout for the true East Coast IPAs.

Lot 051811 on the label.
A slightly hazy amber color with a voluminous white head, even with a careful pour. Lots of sticky lace.
Citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Good sweet malt background.
Tropical fruit taste, very sweet. Grapefruit leading to a little bit of piney hops that I hadn't detected in the aroma. Bread.
This was a very well-balanced IPA. Will pick up more of these.

Had at the Sebago end of an era special event. Shared it with my wife and bumped elbows with pretty much every major player in the Maine beer scene.

The color is golden straw slight cloudy with a generous head.

The aroma is is fruity hops very very fresh. Wonderful.

The taste well what can I say its probably the best IPA I've ever had. The taste is all hops but never overwhelming. The flavor starts sweet becomes a citrus hop flavor and ends with a slight bitter of hops flavor. Wonderful.
