American IPA |  7.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our “East Coast” version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

A good IPA, but the taste never lived up to the nose

Poured into a Dogfish Spiegelau glass. Label says 090914.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a 3/4 inch light tan head that retains very well before slowly working its way down to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam. Fluffy, resilient lacing slides slowly down the glass.

S- Lovely citrusy hops with a nice malt sweetness backing it up. Musty, pungent and vibrant.

T- Good solid bitterness with plenty of juicy hop flavor. Malt sweetness rounds everything out to make this extra tasty. The bitterness is assertive, yet restrained making it damn near perfect. Alcohol is very well-hidden.

M- Slightly sharp with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- It's been a few years since I last had this. I remember it being a bit more rustic, similar to a homebrew. It's still fantastic but I think that over the years it's lost a bit of character. No complaints though. One of the MBC beers that's actually worth the price tag.
