Notes/Commercial Description:
Our “East Coast” version of a West Coast-style IPA. Intense hop flavors and aromas of tropical and citrus fruits and pine dominate. A subtle malt sweetness brings the beer into balance.

Hazy and vibrant orange with a spongy white head. Great retention.

Delicate aromas of orange and lemon zest, then some pine. Grainy malt accent.

The pine is heavier in the taste and duels with the orange and lemon. The lemon is long in the finish along with a sweet malt.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and clean.

A very good IPA, though I have to say I was expecting a little bit more out of it based on what I've read. Very good, but not elite.

Amber in colour, slightly hazy, with a foamy head that recedes to a creamy top.

The nose is slightly piney, but is dominantly sweet with citrus and earthy hops. Notes of orange, pineapple, and kiwi play very smooth over a slightly sweet malt.

The characteristics of this IPA taste as well-blended as they smell. The pine is more intense and adds a stronger bitterness than the nose, but overall the complex blend of hop flavours are extremely smooth. Slight sweetness from the malt balances this blend.

The mouthfeel is on the lighter side but well-bodied for this recipe.

This American IPA can stand up with some of the best.

Poured from bottle into a Jester King goblet.

A: Deep golden pour with just over two fingers of fluffy, off-white head that retains quite nicely.

S: Grapefruit soda, fresh orange, malt character akin to toasted bread.

T: Pine, citrus, orange, bready malt. Bitter, dry citrus in the middle and a light caramel-like maltiness in the finish.

M: Dry, smooth, and silky, with a malt-driven cream-like character.

O: Very, very good. Maine's attempt at a west coast-style IPA certainly lives up to it's ambitions.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into an unbranded willi becker pint glass

Pours a deep gold orange with some amber accents topped by a two and a half finger slightly off white fluffy, creamy white head. Fantastic retention with thick lacing that coat the glass all the way down. Mandarin orange, herbal notes including green tea and fresh cut grass, citrus blossom notes, some breadiness and grain. Starts with citrus and fruit notes, mandarin orange, kumquats, nectarines, fresh green tea, light floral notes. Some breadiness and grains midpalate and semisweet malt. Finishes semi dry with mildly bitter citrus rind and just a very light touch of caramel. Smooth, slick, silky mouthfeel with a hint of creaminess. Wonderful! Lunch lives up to the acclaim for sure. A superb American IPA.
