American Pale Ale (APA) |  6.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our first run at an American Pale Ale. Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

Appearance- Straw colored pour. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Smell- Pine and freshly baked bread

Taste- Very crisp and piney nose and a bitter "crushed aspirin" finish (which is really not my thing). Slightly biscuity malt backbone.

Mouthfeel- More carbonated than most, I think this seems to be a reoccurring theme with Maine Beer Company brews. About the right consistency for a traditional pale.

Overall a good brew, but I will not be purchasing more Maine Beer Company beers unless the prices in my area come down. $7.99 for a 16.9 oz bottle is highway robbery. I can get a sixer of Sierra Nevada for the same price and this really doesn't taste any better.

a. cloudy yellow in color. Good 2 finger head that lasts.

s. Smells of pine, hops

t. Pine and hops but not over the top, or too biting. Very smooth.

m. Well carbonated.

o. This was an excellent APA that was a bit pine heavy in the profile but so well balanced.

MO is probably Maine Beer Company's most underrated beer. It is far easier to obtain than Dinner or Lunch, but it has a lot to offer in terms of flavor and mouthfeel. It has a similar flavor profile to Dinner, but it is far lighter and slightly more carbonated.

I have enjoyed MO on tap and in bottles; in fact it is one of my regular purchases at the local liquor store. It is a hop-forward Ale with excellent carbonation that goes down all-too-easily on a nice summer day.

It is mostly golden in color and pours with a thin lacey head with a mild dank, hoppy flavor. As with most Maine Beer Co. beers, the fresher the better, so be mindful of the stamped-on production date. After 90 days the quality does suffer, and that would certainly be a waste of an extremely well crafted ale. Cheers!
