Style | ABV
American Pale Ale (APA) |  6.00% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our first run at an American Pale Ale. Flavors and aromas of zesty citrus, passionfruit, and pine present themselves throughout. A very subtle malt sweetness for balance, but this is intended to finish dry.

Bottled 10/28/14, Consumed in mid-November. Exquisitely fresh for being here in Maryland. Seems like Maine Beer Co. is moving product pretty well down here! Good to know. The beer force is strong with New England.

Appearance: Beautifully hazy golden orange

Smell: Masterful nose--tropical fruits like pineapple and mango just explode, with only a light layer of citric bitterness.

Taste: Follows the nose but adds extra dimension. Initially you're hit with tropical fruits and lightly bitter grapefruit. But then you get a major hit of smooth grain that's crisp and dry, and lends needed balance. The malt isn't really sweet, rather crisp and lightly bready/cereal-like. The flavor profile is the picture of balance within the style. Just stunning stuff. The best pale ale that I can get around these parts (Metro DC area). Yes, DC Brau makes a fine pale ale, but this is the jam right here.

Mouthfeel: Perfectly on point carbonation (medium) and a solid medium body that is a little thicker than you'd expect from a pale ale (albeit one higher in ABV than APA normally weighs in at. The dryness in the finish is exquisite.
