A- Pours a very dark brown, with a body that looks thicker than I expected. Settles into the glass as a near-black with no transparency. Gorgeous frothy mocha-colored head that stays thick and lingers.
S- Lots of dank, herbal hop aromas with roasted malts and even some mocha aromas. Very nice nose.
T- Hops come through nicely, lots of herbal and pine hop qualities with the roastiness coming through nicely. Finish has a roastiness that resembles coffee with hints of chocolate. Really goes back and forth between the huge hop bitterness and the huge roastiness.
M- Smooth and creamy, medium carbonation.
O- I love this style when it is executed correctly and this one does a great job. I am interested to see what type of hops and malt are used in this because some of the flavors expand further than even the best black IPAs I have had. Really awesome offering.

From 07/23/14 notes. On tap at Rattle n Hum in NYC. 14 oz pour in a tulip.
a - Pours a dark mahogany brown color with one inch of dark brown head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks very nice.
s - Smells of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, pint hops, and very light citrus. very good, though not as balanced or hoppy as I was expecting. Roasted notes dominate the nose.
t - Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, pine hops, citrus hops, floral notes, grapefruit, cocoa, and mocha notes. More balanced than the nose and more hops, very good and better.
m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. No bitterness, pretty easy to drink.
o - Overall a good Black IPA...not one of the best I've had, and not MBC's best, but quite good. Taste is good and balanced, worth checking out.

Poured from the 3 week old bottle into the MBC ale hybrid weizen/pilsner blass.
A: Dark creamy ale, seems nitro charged. Opaque with light brown head that starts pretty big and collapses into a 4mm disk. Can be excited into froth at any time. minimal lacing and kinda brown at the edges. Tasty lookin'!
S: Neo hops, like Mosaic or Azzaca, mild. Malt shines through with strong toffee note.
T: Well blended neo-hop and dark chocolate malted milk ball.
M: Very delicate on the tongue, with a slightly acidic, almost lactic side of tongue with malty swallow, slightly thin on uptake. After swallow, it kinda wells up into a creamy, bitter note then kinda hangs around with a very slight hint of chalkiness.
O: Great effort again from MBC. Outright solid.
