Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Brewed with a new friend, Kjetil Jikiun, founder and brewer at Nogne-O. Our aim was to brew a delicate, sessionable beer incorporating elements of the saison and hoppy American ale styles. We used a blend of our house ale and saison yeast strains. The result, an ale, golden in color, generously hopped, with background notes of saison funk accented by soft rye and wheat flavors.

Hazy golden orange with a fluffy white head. Darker than I expected which is nice. The rye is there. The malt is there. The hops are there. the flavor brings some grassy qualities along with a bit of dried fruit. Smooth, satisfying, with the proper body and carbonation. The yeast stands out more as it warms. Combines all the great aspects of the two styles...spicy rye, hops, roasted malt, barn, and a bit of faint funk. an interesting and unique beer. The rye really lingers in the finish and on the palate which is great for fans of rye. I'd recommend it to anyone.

500 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottled 7/16/2013.

Appearance - Hazy orange. Medium white head. Thick chunky collar. Nice lacing.

Smell - Doughy malts. Belgian yeast and sweetness. Orangey hops. Alittle rye.

Taste - Orange hops and a grainy malt character. Less doughy, more of the spicy rye. Herbal and grassy in the finish. A little bitter in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. High carbonation.

Overall - I didn't notice the bottle date when I picked this up. It would appear Maine beers sit quite a while. I was just excited to try a Maine beer I hadn't had. Clean flavors, maybe lacking some excitement.

Collaboration Time III pours a hazy honey yellow into the glass with a small, white head on top. The foam fades away quickly leaving behind some spots and lines of lace.

The aroma has a nice blend of orange citrus, lime, coriander, and white pepper. A little banana is present too. The citrus reminds me of an orange grove. Very soft and inviting.

Each sip of this medium bodied beer is soft with an effervescent fizz. The flavor is much like the aroma, orange, lemon and lime citrus blended with mild spice notes of white pepper, coriander and clove. Some bubblegum and banana sweetness appears in the background. It finishes dry with a little fruity tartness. Once gone the citrus and spice lingers on the palate.

Overall this is a well crafted, very tasty beer. Very easy to drink and would go great with some fancy cheese.

Draught @ Brewery: This one pours a hazy paler golden color. There was a bit of a white head on it. Some lacing. The aroma is good. Some rye, spices, citrus, earthy, wheat to name but a few. The taste is also good. Wheat, rye, grassy, yeasty, spicy. A touch bitter and dry to finish. Very Nice!

500ml bottle (bottled 7/16/13) poured into an Idle Hands tulip.

A - Pours a pale golden color with very good clarity - just the faintest hint of haze. A finger of rocky white head, froths and fizzes away over the course of a minue or so, leaving behind traces of lacing on the glass.

S - Very fruity - loaded with citrus - lemons, limes, oranges. Coriander, spicy hops, slightly herbal, trace funk, a bit floral, hay/grass. Really nice saison aromas...liking this so far.

T - Orange juice up front, lemon/lime, dry and earthy malt, bitter hop presence, grassy. Quite dry, bitter/hoppy overall on top of the fruity aspects.

M - Bright and fruity, medium body with ample stinging carbonation. Juicy offset by hoppy bitterness.

O - Rather good saison. Aroma is outstanding...flavor is lacking a bit of the complexity in the aroma, but still quite good. I would definitely look for this one again.
