Colors great, smells coppery and sour, tastes a bit sour, feels crisp, overall not bad for a fruit beer.

Poured into a mug: color is hazy copper, head is off white to light tan, small bubbles, head presents at least 1 inch thick and lingers well, good lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is straight up blend of light ale and watermelon puree, fresh not extract which gives an earthy/vegetal quality that is hard to describe but if you ever mixed beer and watermelon its just like this.
Taste is similar to the aroma, maybe a touch less but definite fleshy, watermelon flavor is present, but its not sweet and its not candy like, definitely more fleshy/fresh cut like. Malt is present but not detracting or dominating.
Mouthfeel is moderate, lingering bite, but not bitter just some neutral crispness.
Overall this is one of the better watermelon beers available, no weird extract like flavors just fleshy, fresh watermelon and light beer flavor.

16 Mile Brewing Co. "Seed-Free & Joy"
12 oz. brown glass bottle, no freshness dating
$1.75 @ Atlantic Liquors, Rehoboth Beach, DE
Impressive! Authentic watermelon flavor in just the right amount. I'm on the fence as to whether or not it could use a little bit more carbonation, but given the limited (light-medium) body I'll go with it as is. Worth seeking out to try an excellent watermelon beer.

I am the first to review this one, plus it is my approved pic that accompanies this entry. It is a bottle that was given to me by one of my trivia partners, Emily, who picked it up while vacationing in Delaware.
From the bottle: "Ale brewed with watermelon".
I Pop!ped the cap and gave it a pretty heavy-handed pour, netting me two fingers of dense, tawny head with good retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a true watermelon scent, not that chemically manufactured smell that candy has. How to describe it? It is not really sweet, per se, but instead, slightly earthy. The bottom line is that it smelled like real watermelon and not candy, which puts it head and shoulders above other watermelon/fruit beers. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was surprisingly dry! It tasted of watermelon, certainly, but held in check by a pleasantly dry biscuity/crackery maltiness. Watermelon muffins! Watermelon biscotti? Would such a thing even sell? Now, I am curious as to how well this sells for the brewery. I have to cop to the idea that I would not have bought it for myself, but I never turn down the gift of beer. The finish was pleasantly dry and satisfying. I could definitely see drinking this on a hot day, but they need to put it in a CAN before I would CANsider it further.
