A-dark murky brown with a thin almost non existent head

S-extremely faint scent of cocoa and dark roasted malts and maybe a certain saltiness.

T-comes in with a decent flavor of cocoa, dark roasted malts, and some brine. There's also a slight hint that this may have been infected. It's all really just mediocre. Barely an after taste.

M-medium carbonation with a watery finish, close to soda

O-it doesn't taste bad and I do appreciate the hint of brine. But overall it's just a boring stout. I wouldn't really recommend searching this one out.

Had on tap at the Pickled Pig.

A: Pours black with a small tan head on top, moderate retention, eventually reducing to a ring on top. Minimal lacing.

S: A good bit of roasted malt with some chocolate, a little bit of dark fruit, and a hint of smoke.

T: Lots of roasted malt and plenty of chocolate. Hints of dark fruit and a touch of salty brine, but very faint compared to other oyster stouts I have had.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Smooth and easy drinking.

O: A pretty good beer by 16 Mile here, one of the better beers I have had from them. I like that some of the profits go towards sustainable oyster fisheries in Delmarva as well.

First had: on tap at 16 Mile

I quite enjoyed this one. It was listed as "Delaware Oyster Stout," so I'm assuming this is the same thing. Black pour with ruby highlights, topped with a small, off-white head that dissipated almost completely. Decent aroma, toasted malts, smoke. Taste of roasty malts, chewy unsweetened chocolate, a nice smoke character coming through from the cherrywood malts, but nothing overly smokey, and a definite briny quality from the supposed 200 lbs. of oysters added to the brew. Well-balanced, with all the flavors complimenting each other nicely. Medium body, maybe heavy-medium, and overall, quite good.

Served on-tap at 16 Mile Brewing Co. in Georgetown, Del.

A: Pitch black with a frothy, thin, espresso-colored head of carbonation. Slight brown edges shine through in the light.

S: Roasted and herbal malts combine with some bittersweet chocolate and a grassy, fruity aroma. Burnt tobacco and sugars combine for the rest of the nose.

T: Bittersweet and roasted black malts hit the palate up front with a fine, mineral sweetness leading towards a fruity, bitter mid-palate. Herbal, metallic hops blend into the briny, bitter and blackened malt finish. Residual sweetness lingers in the soft, boozy finish.

M: Full-bodied, slick and smooth for the most part. No trouble throwing this on back.

O: A nice, herbal and bittersweet American stout brewed with additional mineral characteristics. The 6.1% ABV is on par with other 16 Mile brews, but the craft seems a cut above. Nice to see a collaborative brew series start off strong as well. I'd get again and would seek out if bottled.
