Near the conference center, so you'd think it might be a great place to get a quick bite to eat and a brew while taking a break from the conference crowds. However, my advice is to NOT do it. Food was terrible and no one I ate with thought it was even average.
regarding beer, the selection is good for SLC but average for anywhere else. It has an almost nonoverlapping subset of perhaps half of the beers that the Bayou has which my guess is because they share a distributor.
The upshot: Walk a few extra blocks to the Bayou which is MUCH better for both beer and food.

The beerhive is a great little spot. I heard of this place a few times before I went there. I was glad I did.
The bar is deceptively larger than it looks. Inside is plenty of room, with a down stairs with pool tables. The atmosphere is laid back and chill.
The quality of beer and selection is quite good. They had several beer that I've wanted to try and not that big of a price gouge either. I had a 2012 Abyss for $20, which considering I was drinking it in a bar, I felt reasonable. They have a huge menu of beers and a bit of everything.
Our server was very good and was good at offering advice of selection. She kept up with water and beer.
Overall, great place worth checking out if you are in SLC!

Never have I felt compelled to write a review but after visiting SLC and experiencing their lack of good beer, I figure this place needed to be shared.
Small patio, long bar, dark inside but staffed well. Most of the length of the bar has about a five inch wide ice lane for resting beer bottles on (to help keep them cool in the warmer months). I had never seen this before and thought it was VERY "cool."
Awesome selection of bottled beers and the decent SLC selection of draft brew available in the state but a nice variety from places like Zion, Moab, Uinta, Squatters and so on (about 15-16 taps and easily 80+ bottles). I had a bottle of 09 Mirror Mirror from Deschutes and one I've been wanting to try for a while (even with known and acknowledged Brett infection). They had many great Barleywines and Stouts from all over the country and was very happy to see a bar for someone like me in a city not quite for me.
Mark-ups on bottles were about what you'd expect for a bar that's been hanging on to brews for 4+ years.
If you're downtown in SLC, stop in!

Walking in, they were playing Led Zeppelin and had NFL on the TV, which made a great first impression. The decor is awesome and the TV's are in prefect position behind the bar to watch from any seat. The bottled beer menu isn't Bayou huge, but that they may be a good thing. The wife and I both got beer we never had before. The cheese fries were decent, not great. That's all we got for food. Live the three pool tables and the foosball table downstairs, unfortunately the TV down there wasn't working. The waitress was great when she came to us, but didn't check on us for a while after our first beers were empty. Overall though, I think I found a new favorite spot.

I like Beerhive. The decor and atmosphere is nice and clean. Almost all of the taps are Utah brewed beers, which works for me. Beyond that, the bottle list is quite extensive, but not bringing as much as The Bayou. Which doesn't really make a difference to me as there are so many things to try. I was surprised at how good my pizza was. Most bars or brewpubs seem to have a standard kind of pizza, but this was well beyond that. The guy visiting from Philly next to me also thought the pizza was really good, and he was as surprised as I was. (The food actually comes from Michaelangelo's next door.) Service is relaxed here, but generally not inattentive. This is a go-to spot in SLC, especially considering it's location in the downtown area.

While taking a lift from my friend Huber, it was quite a journey to find this place and he was from SLC! Due to the one way streets and vast construction areas, we ended up having to go down a WRONG WAY street and then immediately turn right onto Main Street. Eventful night. Finally finding it because of the Craft Neon Beer Signs outside, he dropped me off and I proceeded into this "well known" beer bar in town.
Walking straight in through the big red doors, I was witnessing a deja vu of beer bars in Columbia, MO. People doing shots all down the bar. Fun atmosphere and party people! I decided to take a seat at the other end of the bar and collect my thoughts on what to order. The music was all different genres from reggae/hip hop/alternative. Great mix!
The beer menu was very informative by style, ABV, and price. Very neat and they had everything in stock. Both bartenders informed me that they cellar and age most of their brews. I then went straight for a Mirror Mirror Vintage! Couldn't resist.
Both bartenders working that night were very cool and we all shared thoughts/opinions on different sought after beers and which ones aged better then others. Quite the staff for a beer bar!
Their selection was outstanding too. Not as many brews as other beer bars (right under 200), it was filled with nothing but limited/rare beers that make you "any mini miny moe". I chose a "night cap" sort of beer (Mirror Mirror) and enjoyed for a while.
I never saw any menu for food but as I made it in this place at 11pm, their kitchen must have closed already. Next time!
I suggest stopping in here first (if your looking to enjoy GREAT beer and receive AWESOME service). They make your experience worth the trip. Will be back next time I'm in SLC. Thanks BeerHive Staff!

We had a small group of us and we shared some excellent beers such as an Imperial Stout anniversary beer from Sierra Nevada that I had never seen before.
The food we ordered took way too long and definitely wasn't worth the wait, we were hungry and didn't finish half of it. The server told us the reason it took so long is they were having problems with the kitchen next door, half our group were done with their food before we even got ours. Eat before you go there, they were helpful with the beer choices, so I would go back to try some other interesting beers.

This was my first visit to SLC and I had heard tales of the citiy being a beer waste land. After a nice dinner up the street i found the BeerHive in the center of town.
The bar had a small crowd, very nice atmosphere with a long bar with an ice tray to keep your beer cold. There was a nice selection of beer on tap and a four page beer menu with a nice selection of bottled beer. The range of prices went from $4 to $28. I was surprised with the number of 22oz bottle selections.
The two bartenders were vert friendly, talkative, provided excellent service and had very good beer knowledge.
I did not try the food, however, a few people that were eating seamed satisfied with their food.
Everyone in the bar seemed to be having a good time. This was a nice bar and recommend it to anyone visiting SLC.
