Completely average dive bar with regular patrons who get most of the attention from the staff. Average is a great word and it suits this place to a C. Dark, depressing...fine, usually I don't mind that but everybody there seemed sadder than me on a crappy day. No thank you. I did enjoy drinking the pubs namesake at the actual location but that and some free matches is what I will remember most. Don't stop in unless you need to feel better about yourself.

Stopped in here for an early evening pint.
It was quiet and dark which I like, they had several options from Georgetown Brewing on tap in addition to some other local options.
The service was pretty good, the bartender was friendly and helpful so no complaints there.
Did not get the chance to try the food as the kitchen was closed or something, which was surprising considering it was 5pm on a Saturday night.

Overall this seems to be an excellent spot to stop in Georgetown and I'm sure I will be stopping in here again.

favorite bar in seattle! i love this place, great beer selection, great atmosphere, often times great music, and all the bar tender girls are nice as can be. 9lb is more of a tavern than a bar. there's lots of seating, free pool, and a great local and domestic beer selection. if you go during the day you'll find a dark quiet bar with classic country or delta blues playing in the back ground. at night it gets a bit louder, but there is always a friendly vibe, and the bar tenders make you feel like a regular the first time you come in. often you can buy fresh tamales for only a buck. this really is the way a bar should be.

Stopped iin here on a Saturday evening o the way back home. Found some street parking on the back end of the building. Old, brick, industrial. The pub itself was sordove like that from the outside. Walking in is a beautiful site. lots of old wood, plenty of character and it still symolizes what Georgetown is. There were about 6 people at this time. Some were at the bar and some were off in a corner room to the left when you walk in. Lots of old wood on the bar and throughout. Gave it a very dark appearance but cool. The service was good. I sat down and had a beer pronto. 9lb Porter to be exact, which was very, very good! No food. Atmosphere was chill. Will go back again. And they had 12 handles on but I can not recall them for the life of me. Long beer day!

The 9lb Hammer is located about a block away from the Georgetown Brewery in Seattle, and since Georgetown does not have a brewpub of its own, the 9lb is their de facto pub. There are always several Georgetown offerings on tap, including the delicious and eponymous 9lb Porter.

Inside it's a dark, classic-looking pub with peanuts and a pool table. The atmosphere is convivial, but you can also find a table and read a book while enjoying a pint or two. There is also a little stand inside that sometimes has a lady selling homemade tamales.
