The beer comes out of the bottle a hazy brown. The head is huge, tan, super fluffy and is here to stay.
The aroma is bread, a hint of caramel, brown sugar, pear and fig.
Very smooth and a bit creamy. This beer packs an unbelievable amount of complex flavors. There is apple cider, black cherries, chocolate, dark bread, brown sugar and still more. The flavor then transitions to where the dark sweet flavors are in the background and the alcohol, phenols, clove like spice and an earthy semi-dry finish bring the sip to its end. The aftertaste has a character similar to a highly sweetened, light roast coffee. Three people drinking this beer would probably identify fifteen different flavors. It's altogether sweet and complex in the beginning but then earthy, spicy and dry in the finish.
This is a great beer. Anyone that loves Belgian strong darks will love this beer. Anyone that is a fan of dark, complex flavors will love this beer. Anyone that's a fan of beer should love this beer.
