Looks good pouring into a wide-mouthed chalice. Not a huge amount of foam, and it subsides fairly quickly. Body is a deep chestnut color, sort of murky with sediment suspended within it.
Smells a little intoxicating, alcohol blended with fig and plum.
Taste is pretty rich, sweet at first, with the alcohol and fruit notes coming through and hanging on the palate. Finish is earthy, roasty malt, with a slight bitterness of mild cocoa. First sips seemed a little one-dimensional, but as it warms it shows more depth.
Mouthfeel is full and rich, easy to sip and enjoy. Sweetness hinders the drinkability a bit, one bottle at a time is enough for me.
Overall, it's definitely worth a try, but Rochefort 10 is still my favorite from this Trappist brewery.
