330 mL bottle.
Poured dark, caramel brown with a two-plus finger off-white head. Had to be a little gentle with the pour because the effervescence was very active. Lacing starts with a coating on the side of the glass, but quickly recedes - no significant retention.
Wow. This one has a nose on it. Figs up front, along with some powerful rum-soaked fruit smells. Strong alcohol coming through and smelling up the room.
Super complex, spirited flavors. Robust malty sweetness, figs, and a spiciness that lingers. Makes Chimay Blue seem like a straightforward ale. Brown sugar and sweet, spiced fruity desserts come to mind.
Super smooth mouthfeel. Full-bodied, but carbonated enough to not feel heavy.
This is a really complex beer, even for a complex style. I have another bottle that I plan to store for a while and see what happens with a little bit of age. Exceptional beer.
