Thick two finger head, lightish brown color and slight lacing patterns. Aroma of fig, raisin, and plum, with a fair amount of yeasty funk. Tastes of dried fruit with a bit of caramel and bread, also something like vanilla and the slightest touch of mulled spice and anise. A fair amount of effervescence in a medium body that leaves a a slight spicy note on the tongue. Very satisfied with this, a great step from the 10!

A: murky raisin brown with some sediment in it. Excited aboit this one! Not much of a head from the way I poured.

S: prunes and figs. Raisins and doughy bread. Some esters.

T: wow... raisins, cherries, plums, more dark fruit. Then comes the esters, doughy bread, yeast. On the back end I get graham cracker, lemon, brown sugar, and chocolate.

M: perfect. Its creany and medium-full yet fizzy and light. This is one of the best parts.

O: being not a fan of the Belgium darks I have been avoiding them for quite some time. This was my entry back into the style. It's perfectly balanced, majorly complex, and very well crafted.

Poured from a bottle into a Spiegelau Belgian glass.

A: A lovely dark brown with tinges of red. A nice thick head. Significant strong and resilient head.

S: Earthy notes, pine, spices, malt malt malt. Lovely wonderful aroma.

T: Big malts and lovely spices. Nice sweet body and hints of coffee. Good strong caramel flavor on the top. Wonderfully balanced, lacking any bitterness. Very yeasty, lots of Belgian flavors. Not as complex or robust as the 10, but still a very lovely drink.

M: Rich and smooth, perfectly balanced. Excellent drinkability.

O: As expected, not as good as the 10. But still better than most other beers. Thick, hearty, malty, powerful and wonderfully balanced. A+.
