From a 330ml. bottle into a large wine glass, this brew pours a moderate amber in color, just slightly deeper than the #6. A half inch of tan head likewise offers good retention and lacing and regenerates easily.

Caramel and carob with a bit of smoke on the nose. Notably distinct from the #6. Richer notes of dried fig and black cherry. Bit of alcohol is present on a long inhale. Notable spice notes are present, along with muted leather. A fresh addition to the glass throws off a good dose of earthy hops.

Took me a while to taste this, and that's a good thing. Flavor is appropriately sweet and is again fruit forward. Cherry, plum and vinous grape notes abound. Carbonation is just about right for the beer. Light in body yet pleasant and moderately complex in flavor, yielding a decent feel and a strong drinkability.

Very nice value at $3.30/ea LCBO- 330ml bottle

A- Excellent! Opens with a TON of carbonation. Nice cloudy dark appearance.

S- Excellent! Cloves and sweet nutmeg

T- Excellent! So glad I am aging some for later

M- Creamy, thick, excellent carbonation.

O- Excellent! Again I am glad I am putting some in the cellar. Should blend well with the nutmeg and earthy hints coming to life in a few years.

Food pairing.

This wonderful dark ale will pair very well with... Hamburgers!

You pick the toppings and the sear from the grill just rocks!
