Poured from an 11.2 oz bottle into a chalice, served at cellar temp.
Tawny, mead-infused ochre supports a non descript walnut shell tan head. Beer is actively carbonated, which gushed a little upon opening. A profusion of sediment swirls around the glass.
Aroma of brown sugar and rum soaked dark plums, very beguiling.
Mouthfeel: ho hum
Taste: Treacly sweet scorched brown sugar trumps a slight plummy fruitiness. Just a twinge of hop bitterness acts as a rudder on the stern.
Notes: My first Trappistes. Definitely good stuff although not one of the best BSDAs I have had. I look forward to the 8 & 10 later today.
