Mahogany-colored and hazy in appearance. Two finger head with good retention, but lacing is minimal. Sweet, ripened raisin and currant in the nose. Some clove from the yeast. Brown sugar and rich toffee.
Flavor has some fleeting sweetness but is predominantly dry. Very mild bitterness on the finish. Ripe dark fruit defines the flavor. Mouthfeel is slick and a bit low on carbonation.
Largely overshadowed by its bigger brothers, Rochefort 6 is a good dubbel but falls short of other top examples like Westmalle's and Ommegang's.
