A Bellingham institution, The World Famous Up & Up Tavern, is popular with locals and college kids alike. Opening at 4pm the Up is a nicely mellow dive bar until about 8-9pm when the kids start to roll in. A couple pool tables and a half-dozen pinball machines await to gobble you quarters.

The 20+ taps rotate regularly, with the exception of Hipster Deluxe, Busch and High Life. On Thursdays pitchers of peeber are 3 bucks so the placed gets packed. On a recent visit there were beers from Ninkasi, Lagunitas, Stone, Pike, Rogue and more on tap. The Up also has a good selection of bottles, around 20+, that you can drink there, or buy to go. They are also the highest volume keg sale place around.

As far as food, The Up is attached to a local pizza shop, so slices are the only food available, but you don't go to the Up to eat anyway.

Overall, a fun little bar that, depending on your tolerance level for college kids, is worth a visit. As long as you play Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" on the jukebox you'll be welcome here. (1,035 characters)
