From 10/11/13 notes. Had on tap at Distilled in NYC. 16 oz. pour in a pint glass.
a - Pours a medium golden amber color with one to two inches of fluffy white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of citrus hops, light pine hops, fruity malts, bread malta,s and light caramel malts. Some nice hops up front followed by a lot of malts.
t - Tastes of citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, fruity malts, caramel malts, toasted malts, and bready malts. More citrus up front but more caramel malt too. Light bitterness.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Slight bitter bite in the mouthfeel but not much at all.
o - Overall a good beer, though more malty than I was expecting. Some citrus hops to it and not a lot of bitterness, worth checking out but don't go looking for a super hoppy beer with it.

"sample only" bottle poured into a greenport harbor pint glass.
a - brew poured a foggy soft light orange brown with 2 fingers of frothy ipa head that hung out. nice chunky lacing coated the glass.
s - nose has a nice citric hop. fairly fruity.
t - bitter hops over bit caramel malts. kind of gives more of a barleywine vibe because of the huge malt backbone.
m - full bodied, big bitter finish.
o - overall, not bad, but not great either. a bit too caramel malt forward for my tastes. the hop seems to only be here to build on the bitterness.

Got a Growler from Bullseye beer distributor in Smithtown. Poured into a pint glass.... the look of this beer is beautiful.... copper color but you can see right thru it like water... lots of bubbles which made a beautiful head that stayed for a bit but laced away. Great smell that is the quinquennial iPa smell. gave off a very hoppy smell.. pine smell all the way.... beautiful balance so it's not too dry, too heavy... very much hop taste right up front.... but if your drinking an ipa than that's what you want. Mellows out a little... little bit of an aftertaste but more so that you want more of it... I am not an IPA fan but I am slowly getting there. There are 1 or 2 other IPA's I feel are slightly better but that's not a knock... I was pleasantly surprised by how great this tasted. I will definitely recommend and look to drink again.
